To mark today's launch of Morrissey's remastered, re-artworked and expanded Everyday Is Like Sunday single (for more details click here: http://bit.ly/9XPbQV), Morrissey has announced his own ‘Supreme 13 Singles’. Major Minor created a Spotify playlist (of those singles that are available) so you can listen right here: http://bit.ly/aK06S2.

1. Jet Boy - New York Dolls (Mercury, 1973)
2. This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both of Us - Sparks (Island, 1974)
3. Saturday Nite Special - The Sundown Playboys (Apple, 1972)
4. Young, Gifted and Black - Bob & Marcia (Harry J, 1970)
5. Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy - The Tams (MCA, 1968)
6. Soldier Blue - Buffy Sainte-Marie (RCA, 1971)
7. Granada - Al Martino (Capitol, 1961)
8. Mighty Joe - Shocking Blue (Colossus, 1970)
9. All Grown Up - The Crystals (Philies, 1962)
10. I've Been A Bad, Bad Boy - Paul Jones (HMV, 1967)
11. I'm Livin' In Shame - The Supremes (Tamla Motown, 1968)
12. Do The Strand - Roxy Music (Island, 1978)
13. Groovin With Mr Bloe - Mr Bloe (DJM, 1970)

Posted it on http://www.somedizzywhore.com too.

I don't care 'bout anything of these ones.
I'd rather if the list includes Velvet Underground and Bowie

Thanks! Groovin' with Mr Bloe is a tune I heard years ago and could never ever track down, until now, by chance (I didn't know song title or artist). Always reminded me of The Housemartin's "The Mighty Ship". :)

I've Been A Bad, Bad Boy - Paul Jones

This track was sited by Simon Goddard as an influence for Pretty Girls Make Graves in a Record Collector article a few years back - it features the lines "I'm not the man you think I am"

Nice collection to listen to. Is there any way of downloading the tracks from Spotify?

Dave

You can buy the tracks with a link for doing such, which all but three of those do.
Otherwise, I don't know, I'm sure someone has figured out a way of capturing songs off there. There's always the possibility of capturing the sound directly from your sound card, although that would be a little tedious, I'd imagine...

Wait, no "Mr. Blobby"? I have to say, I'm rather surprised.

I liked hearing a Buffy Sainte-Marie song that I hadn't heard before.

This is my favourite by her:

(really bad sound quality on the youtube.)

Apropos Spotify playlists, here's one I put together earlier this year, of all of Morrissey's intermission music (or what of it is available on Spotify anyway) from 91 to 09, more or less chronologically: http://open.spotify.com/user/decontrol/playlist/4jDVUPLIUbgSNN4RwJByBV

There might be some stuff that's become available since then though. Groovin' With Mr. Bloe wasn't there yet when I compiled it, for instance.

May I point out that the harmonica in Groovin' With Mr Bloe does, at certain points, sound very much like the harmonica intro to Still Ill.

Ta,

P.
