Nicola Sturgeon responds to concert attack by 'huge talent' Morrissey - The National

Sorry for my ignorance... what's the usual meaning of “Those hands will be in anybody’s pocket.”
IMHO:
It is a play on the idea of the Scottish stereotype of being tight with money and then tying that to the idea that England props up Scotland financially. So she'd be helping herself to money out of other people's pockets.
Regards,
FWD.
I would add to that, her party (the SNP) has taken a decidedly 'tax and spend' approach to government (or possibly just tax and tax), so that 45% of people in Scotland will soon pay more tax than people in the UK. So dipping into Scottish pockets as well.

the barnet formula is the thing that determines how much Scotland gets yearly from the uk government, scotland is a much colder country than the rest of the uk which means harsher winters, moving goods this far up north is much more costly,i could go on and on but I will end up sounding like a broken record.no I'm not an snp supporter.

Apparently she's now been added to the official 'banned' list for the tour, along with Hugh. There won't be many Scottish folks left soon.

My thoughts on his comments...

I think economically he's pretty much a Libertatian now he's a multi-millionaire. He used to be the champion of the poor, now he's on the side of anyone not dipping into his pockets. My guess would be his comments are about the Scots taking tax to spend on the general population.

Thank you very much FWD. That's exactly what I thought, but I wasn't sure when I asked. Where I live that kind of person is called "vividor/a". No matter what there is nothing better than living from one's own. I ignore Scottish situation but I like the people, as far as I know they are very hard-working. But bureaucrats are living the big dream everywhere. Who will pay all those bills?

That's very bad news. In fact, that's how socialist governments begin... then they all finish like Venezuela. Big taxes --> big bureaucracies ---> big corruption --> everybody's poor. It's more complicated, of course, but that's a summary.

You could argue the more money there is floating about the more corruption there is. The right left thing is a destructive way of thinking, we're all run by crooks no matter what they profess to us.

The Jocks aren't Commies, they're just about a fairer way. I wouldn't want to live there, it's always f***ing raining but I like the way they go about their business, much like the other northern Europeans in Scandinavia.

We should see the numbers. I bet Morrissey was reading something, or was informed about something, that made him express that opinion. Living in a de facto mussolinian state, where the actual power is exercised by different corporations no matter who have the formal power, I can assure you strong bureaucracies are the poison of democracies and economies.

But the trains are on time so shut up and get onboard. What would you add to the world except your loser mentality?
Start a company and give people a job.

WOW
You woke up in the end.

It's always the mistake of a snowflake to admire somewhere where they don't have to live themselves. As for rain in various parts that was built on a myth based on an old faulty weather map. Not that you would educate yourself and use all the knowledge available online. You believe what you were told and that makes you sleep at night.

Yep. Hit the nail on the head, Countthree. And if Comrade Corbyn gets in, it'll be much, much worse.

The UK government is completely bent. Look at things like the Post Office sell off where blokey who fixed the price pocketed millions worth of shares. Where our last Prime Minister promised to attack offshore accounts while not disclosing his family money had been made through the setting up offshore accounts. If you want to get elected you know your policies will be led by whoever paid for your election win. Meanwhile vast amounts of the citizens of the country are left to rot, while the whole population is played off each other to ensure we keep our eyes off the bent bunch at the top. Of course it's the same in the US and more extremely so in Russia. The horrible left wing governments just have a different kind of corruption.

Neither's citizens have any freedom, people talk about oppression in Venezuela but it's no different in western countries, try chucking your government out and you'll be met with the same response. You'll say you can vote them out in Western countries, you can but you will 100% of the time get the the government the money men have paid for because it's really those that are running the country.

Morrissey's stance on this would be to not vote, a part of me thinks you have to get involved but ultimately he's right, it's futile and pointless.

By the way, Venezuela is a western country. The fact that a gang of barbarian thieves kidnapped the country doesn't erase that fact.

The thing with governments that act like business partners perceiving huge taxes with the excuse of redistributing the money with the rest of the people is that taxes are used to fund a web of state corruption, propaganda and privileges. And people eventually realize they remain poor and exploited with less chances of a better life, because the huge bureaucracies funded with your taxes make poorer and indebted countries after the first or second shot of welfare.

Putin wants people don't vote. The blank vote is a democratic tool And I use when I hate all the candidates.
But the possibility of voting, as restricted as it may seem, is the only exit for people. Exit! Exit!

Some redistribution makes for a happier society with less crime though. Redistribution would of course be less necessary if there wasn't such a rigged game in terms of wages where one person can 'earn' 300 times what another does in the same company - added to that you can pretty much tell the background from where the people who get most of those top jobs come from, and just as importantly where they don't come from. You have to have a balanced economy and if you aren't run by crooks you might not have the rigged game that we have either.

I'm all for democracies, I just wish we had one.

O brother, why am I not surprised at all.
I take it you deserve a million a year without work, redistribute from someone who does work but is not as 'super smart' as you. 'super smart' people normally cant produce much thus they view everthying as rigged
against them.

Where should Moz green be re distributed to? How about 50 percent to Solow and 50 percent to Joyce. How does that suit the Commie contingent here?

You should try to raise your game above juvenile, your ramblings would have some weight if we all lived in meritocracies. We don't btw.

To live in a meritocracy you Commies would have to want to work. Which in itself is a contradiction in
terms. You all too 'sophisticated' to drive a truck etc.

I t's a shame because these people give him the time of day but he's not got the capacity to form meaningful conversation. He lets himself down at every juncture
