I have joined the site recently and have been trying to get my head around what is considered appropriate content to post on this site and what is not--ie what the rules of posting are.
To help me understand this I have read the Terms of Use for the site, which brings up my first question:
Why are there numerous, numerous posts on this site that violate the TOU? I'm referring of course to rules (laid out very clearly more than once in the TOU) that cite hateful, abusive or offensive posts as a violation of the rules.
There is even a whole thread, I discovered today, explicitly dedicated to hating people. This couldn't be a more blatant violation of the TOU, this thread has been sitting around for more than a year and moderators have taken no action. So my first question is, why are the TOU being ignored? I would really REALLY like a moderator response on this.
This also brings up the question, if the publicly posted TOU are not being followed by moderators, then what are the real, secret TOU that you are following? I am not being flippant here, I sincerely want to know what kinds of posts are actually not allowed on the site and would be removed?
My next questions are about the the ways in which feedback can be given on posts:
When should the "Report" link be clicked? And what response should be expected?
What is the meaning of each of the feedback buttons, and when is it appropriate to use them? (Perhaps there is a thread somewhere that describes this that I haven't been able to find...)
Is it true that posts receiving a certain volume of negative feedback automatically get blocked? How does this work?
Thank you in advance for your response to these questions. I do understand that Morrissey Solo is not a gentle and kind place. I don't naively expect to be treated with dignity and respect when I post. But I very much want to know what the real rules of engagement are, and what moderator response (if any) I can expect if things get rough.
