"Sad Boy Icon Morrissey Has a Vegas Residency, and I Have a Problem With It" - Dallas Observer article

A rather strange article here, in the Dallas Observer, by a writer (and fan) who's upset about Morrissey playing Vegas this summer:

Sad Boy Icon Morrissey Has a Vegas Residency, and I Have a Problem With It - Dallas Observer
By Diamond Rodrigue

Sample from the piece:

And as if the whole idea of Moz — who once said, “I have an unswayable obsession with death. If there was a magical pill that one could take that would retire you from the world, I would take it” — singing his sad music in a Vegas casino wasn’t weird enough, the promotional photo for the event sees him in a very Elvis-like, buttoned-way-down collared white shirt. Did I mention yet that the event’s name is Viva Moz Vegas?

Sigh.

We're all different, of course, but it's pretty obvious that Morrissey would get a kick out of a Vegas residency, no? (Both financially and psychologically.) The 1980s were a very, very long time ago...

Stop by The Flamingo while ya in town!
Come and check Wild T Turkey Steppin' with the Turkettes!
The buffet will be veggie durin' my residency!

The only vegans in Vegas are the ones who brought up their dietary “feelings” and got buried in the desert - just outside of town.

NOBODY in Vegas gives a rat’s ass about what you eat. ...and you’d do well to take note of that, lest ye join the rest who’ve tried. ;)

Yawn.

For certain shows you can grab Row E for $165-190. Steep drop from the $1500 or so for front row. It is Vegas after all.

Morrissey is great, greater indeed.
I don't give a f*** for all these people whom still want to f*** him.

The touts have every ticket that’s been sold. That’s the only reason ANY have been sold.

They’re expecting big things from the 14 basement dwelling felchers on here to pony up for the plane-ride and lodgings.

Not gonna happen, is it?

The quarter-sold room (FACT - check the available seating) will be filled with bored gamblers on a voucher. ...and they’ll quickly realize that Morrissey is no Pat Boone, when it comes to showmanship.

Has he sorted a Smiths medley yet? He’d better get on it. The band aren’t exactly stellar and the Vegas crowd can be quite demanding. They won’t stand for half-assed. ...especially those in the wheel-chair rows.

No sunshine. That’s the price via Ticketmaster.

I believe that half the things Morrissey says and does these days is done in order to rid himself of an image he no longer feels to be.

Anyway, the writer of this article obviously doesn’t know much. I mean,
I’m sure he’s been wanting to do a residency in Vegas for a while.
What's the other half for?

Hahaa!
No murder will be served.

The other of half of the things he says and does is just done to irk those that come to solo that are no longer fans.

:tiphat:

Sorry pals, I was drunk.
But I really don't care about those people who still endorse this haunting on Moz.
I'll always stay true to him - even when he says nazi was left-wing.

I'll get the kick out of this coming concerts when I see my idol. Viva Las Vegas - Moz. I'm a very happy girl when I hear his fabulous voice. !!

dallas stick to the grassy knowle stuff.

Grimeond calls Morrissey 'the Pope of Mope'. Some fan! And lazy to boot.

Look, I’m one of those die-hard fans who thinks that The Smiths’ music saved the world, or at least made me feel less lonely in my 20s, and Morrissey’s solo stuff is, well, OK.

Case made. Dont want to read further.
