Morrissey Central Sky Sports apologise after libellous comment about Morrissey is aired during Sunday Supplement live broadcast - London Evening Standard

Geoff Shreeves was forced to apologise on behalf of Sky Sports after a libellous comment about Morrissey was aired during the live broadcast of Sunday Supplement.

Excerpt:

With presenter Shreeves and his four-man panel of reporters live streaming from home, the comment was heard at the start of the show.

A conversation was heard between members of the panel, before a libellous comment about the iconic frontman of The Smiths was heard.

The show continued, but following its first advertisement break, Shreeves apologised for the comments made by the Telegraph’s chief football writer, Sam Wallace.

Shreeves said: "At the start of this of this program a brief private conversation was unintentionally broadcast. It was not meant for broadcast and any conversation does not reflect the views of Sky Sports."

Sky Sports have been forced to apologise after comments made by one of the guests on their Sunday Supplement show accidentally made the air.

The guest appeared to say "Morrissey's been cancelled hasn't he as he's basically turned out to be a racist", before host Geoff Shreeves swiftly let them know the broadcast had already begun.

First you say he has an advanced and poetic grasp of language, then you say
his lyrics are not as good as they use to be. Don’t think you can have both.

No one needs to ‘absolve’ what Morrissey says or does, and I certainly wasn’t.

He was right to feel and respond. As much bad as people think it’s done, it’s more important that the subject was given some attention. But unfortunately not enough. Hell, the world would probably not be in the situation it is now if the subject was given more attention and action was taken, in regards to the subject of wet markets and the virus.
Unfortunately, having a poetic grasp of language and writing good song lyrics are two completely separate skills and sensibilities. In my opinion, the autobiography is the only good thing he's written since Quarry.

Well, the Sky Sports comment does not seem very libelous to me, but I still like his music from the late 80's and early 90's.

WTF???:ROFLMAO::LOL:

Morrissey isn't a racist, he's just a numpty troll who weaponises inflammatory rhetoric to skirt the edges of acceptable opinion in hopes of selling more concert tickets (not for the forseeable future) or recorded music (not profitable either).

Were he ever foolish enough to test this in court he'd have to explain why he dismissed the contemporary use of the word 'racist' and/or 'racism' as 'meaningless' yet feels the need to return to the High Court of London to argue otherwise.

There's some extremely unpleasant statements in his past which, whilst not evidence of racism, clearly show somebody who gleefully seeks to upset and outrage people for his own profit, in particular his clumsy totalising of 1.3bn Chinese people as a 'subspecies' during an interview with the poet laureate, knowing full well that this would cause the Guardian elites to reach for the smelling salts.

In summary: leave Morrissey to his simplistic political views which he mysteriously gleans without watching the news. Do not feed the troll. He is hoping this will enable his recently moribund new album to be resuscitated just as he is hoping to exploit the Covid 19 to pose as 'vegan' whilst wearing cashmere jumpers. Do one, Morrissey.Get in your clown car and fcUK off back down a one-way street in Rome.

kind regards

PS: Someone needs to tell this SER fella that he's technically repeating any slander by reposting the footage which Sky have apologised for. Another thicko.

Pawning dudes and eating tacos all the way to the stand.

Anybody who does not fit the current definition of 'racist' is incredibly stupid.

For example, if you object to your country being intentionally engineered into a third-world ghetto teeming with every race, culture and creed imaginable and where its indigenous population is actively undermined and replaced, then you fit the current definition not only of 'racist' but 'right-wing extremist'.

Morrissey, and his belief in free speech and expression, is a breath of fresh air.

Nobody should worry about being referred to as a 'racist' any more.

‘Do not feed the troll’. Interesting

has anybody ever seen this email,no didn't think so,he said he was shaking with disgust when he read it well get it on here so we can all have a look.made up balls.
I think when Morrissey dies and these session musicians who experienced their peak with him no longer have any kind of secret hope to get that phone call, then we'll get juicy bits like that. Books, articles, any way to get a few more $ out of the Morrissey name.

Skinny LOL everyone and their sister knows you run this site.
No, sadly I'm still allowed to go to any Morrissey concert I choose. But if $7.00 tickets on stubhub the day of the last time he played here didn't do it I don't know what will, and if Cruel World ever happens, I'm leaving of my own volition as soon as Bauhaus wraps up. But hey, whatever. I'm Peetah Skinny, and you're, well. You.

These days 'racist' = anyone remotely critical of the idea that we should have endless immigration to the point where there is no indigenous culture left.
How does it feel to have grown up otherizing minorities only to become one? I imagine it's frightening because you have seen minorities marginalized and abused. I guess you'd better assimilate and try to fit in to the best of your abilities.

well it doesn't say much for him when he is more interested in money than a slate on his culture and religion.

That Sky Sports mate was not wrong in what he said about Moss. Now if we could only find a way to force a steak down Moss’ throat. All racist sins are paid for.

Well indeed. Firstly it would not be libel, it would be slander. And if he wants to take these people to court for airing these views publicly, I say let him get on with it. He wouldn't have a leg to stand on, there's an awful lot of corroborating material out there, not least Fat Gay Vegan's excellent collected evidence. It would be amusing to watch.

You watch/listen to a lot of gay stuff.

Some worried hacks trying to make their case.

I think he'd win if he took it to court - he didn't endorse Tommy Robinson, support Nigel Farage or vote for Brexit. He can prove he didn't think Anne Marie was far right or racist regardless of what she actually is. Almost every quote is taken out of context, he's an immigrant from a recently oppressed minority group, lyrics, song titles & even the Pin Badge don't prove his personal opinions... & then there's just stupid stuff like the idea it's racist to say Hitler is left-wing, it's been a debate.

Liking Tommy Robinson doesn't make you a racist. Voting Brexit didn't make people racist, liking old Nige doesn't make you racist.....AMW is a gay/vegan liberal who got fed up with the loony left - nothing more, nothing less.
