Street Art ~ Captured By You!

Mostly, I have been finding murals, which are most likely supported by the businesses that own the buildings.
In the Dallas/Fort Worth area, that is usually all I find too. They're definitely better than just a boring beige strip mall building, but still...
Here the murals usually have to be approved by zoning boards, city council, and in some cases, homeowners associations.

The mural is pretty detailed, but due to the lack of wide angle lens on my camera some of the detail isn't that clear. :o

I love these. That font is named Rosewood that says "TATTOO," I see the murals above it but I kinda love that font.

I took this while in Berlin, Germany, back in the late 1990's. It's some of the Berlin Wall that is still standing, called the "Eastside Gallery".

I'm in the OC and keep meaning to drive down to Laguna to grab some of their murals to keep this thread alive, but it is just too. f***ing. hot. And my car has no AC.

Wow amazing.
I saw that in the Berlin wall documentary at the Berlin musuem last year. I didn't get any good pictures of the wall myself.

We have a local gang called the S.O.G.S aka songs of graffitti who get arrested for graffiting on county and city property.
The kids don't fit in with the rest of the gangs at all.
I joked we need a d.o.g.s but no one wants to do it. ;)

Some from around my home.

Washington Elementary on Gladstone. My alma mater 1st-3rd grades. :D I ate many peanut butter sandwiches in that room.

There's this dumpy little complex of businesses on Arrow Hwy that somebody used as their canvas that I LOVE. I suspect it's the pinstriper who does his business out of the nuts and bolts store, but I love this building, lots of cool little details, all hand painted.

A beautiful mural celebrating Mexican Independence and plight in downtown Azusa. Taggers have respected it too.

Found this today on the side of a charity shop in Cottonwood, AZ.

That's pretty cool. Hey, how far are you from Tucson? One of Giselle's public works pics reminded me the other day that one of the coolest "freeway art" I've seen was in Tucson. I don't remember what it was exactly...maybe a tribute to the wildlife there, but it struck me as being very well done as we were whizzing past it a couple years ago. You know, artwork on the concrete barriers and pillars holding up the bridges in the center of town.

It's about a four hour drive south. I've never been there. Sounds cool.

This isn't technically "as photographed by me" but this is a snippet of it. There was an article from 2008 titled "Is it a freeway? Or a really long museum?" :p Next time you go there you'll remember this. (4 hours drive? I had no idea Arizona was that tall.:squiffy:)

How pretty. Thanks for posting it.

Ya, I don't venture south too frequently. It's so darn hot. It's hot here too. We had twenty or more days over 100 degrees Fahrenheit this summer. And now it is humid as well--monsoon season. But I would like to see that one day.

I really liked this Amelia Earhart mural on the side of a car wash in Cuba, Missouri.

On a side street, also in Cuba, Missouri.
