Phoenixville is a nice, thriving suburban town. From a socioeconomic perspective, the borough has hit bottom and risen back up over the last ten years. There was a time when it was impoverished and filled with drug dealer and scumbag runoff from our neighboring cesspool of Norristown. About six years ago, they began a revitalization effort to restore the community to the prominence it enjoyed when the steel mill was thriving. The chamber of commerce attracted a lot of young entrepreneurs and local businesses aimed at the twenty-something crowd and families. Now we have clean streets, restored fixtures and sidewalks, parks, microbreweries, a nice coffee shop, a restored vintage theater ("The Blob" was filmed in Phoenixville), and a lot more.
