Have been listening a lot to this band. Mixes psychobilly , spanish guitar , surfabilly and country exceedingly well.

Think guns, ghosts and graveyards , defiance and revenge ...

Includes the hits This f***ing World, Jezabelle and The Loneliness of the Long Distance Killer !

Are you getting into Psychobilly?
The Meteors are one of the originals to represent that kind of style

My favorite release from them will always be 'Wreckin' Crew' great album.

The acronym had me stumped for a second :)

Yes , I am getting into Psychobilly. I'd say listening to a lot of Meteors and Sharks has been the most important musical discovery of for me over the last couple of years.

A couple of weeks ago , the 5 CD Meteors compilation Kings of Psychobilly I ordered from Amazon turned up. P Paul Fenech actually did a poor job of selecting tracks for it and accordingly , it's a real dog's breakfast ...

Come to think it , the Meteors themselves are quite the hit-and-miss band. I suppose that's part of the reason I prefer Fenech's solo work - have you heard much of it ?

Haha, I too agree with you on the hit-and-miss comment.
I think that's why their Wreckin' Crew album stood out from the rest, a lot of hits that you their other work can compete with.
Also, not a lot of people know, but Gary Day's background before Moz had been a lot of Rockabilly and Psychobilly
He played in The Nitros, Caravans, Frantic Flintstones, and of course, The Sharks. I'm sure he has some others.
oh yeah, check out The Gazmen. That was his some of his solo work.

Fenechaphobia is my favorite from his solo work.
There's so many bands you should check out....
Demented Are Go, Os Catalepticos, The Meantraitors, Los Gatos Locos, Klingonz, Torment, Godless Wicked Creeps, Gorilla, Guana Batz, Koffin Kats....
the list goes on and on.
I have a lot of Psycho on my itunes if you're ever looking for an album.

Thanks for the offer , MozAngeles818 - I'm always looking for an album :) ...

Demented Are Go , hmm ? I snaffled their "Best Of" a month or so ago and it did nothing at all for me. I don't mind peculiar vocal styles but their singer is far too far beyond "raw" ...

Am still working my way through a Guana Batz album. Hasn't grabbed me yet but it's early days.

What did you think about Tiger Army ? I thought "Regions Beyond" lifeless but loved the earlier work ...

Demented Are Go, in my opinion are just like the Meteors. A lot of hit n miss songs, but way more hits than Meteors.
Guana Batz has a lot of great songs, just not a lot of great albums. I'd say their best is Held Down To...Vinyl

Tiger Army is awesome, a lot of that newer age Psychobilly from U.S.A.
I've seen them two times when they would play Hollywood. They've changed too.
Check out 'The Early Years E.P' and 'Power Of Moonlite II' I'd recommend those two.

Tiger Army is great - "Power of Moonlite" is an album I'm now trying to avoid playing for a little while for fear of overdosing on it ...

Is there another Demented Are Go album you could recommend ?

I just finished listening to a Polecats album - it's probably best I keep my mouth shut at this point ( to stop the vomit spilling out) .

I'd recommend both Tangenital Madness and Orgasmic Nightmare from Demented Are Go. Of course, the vocals are still raw, but the production and mastering of the songs are way better than In Sickness And In Health.

I have two mediafire links with a big mix of different Psychobilly bands if you want to check them out.
Tell me what you think.

haha, for sure. Awesome band! They recently just came out with a new album!

I ended up downloading another couple of BR Phantom tracks and , liking what I heard, decided to order the first album :guitar: ...

Thanks , MozAngeles 818, for this upload - I really appreciate the generosity. I'll start by saying the tracks I probably disliked the most were the overly metal-ish ones e.g. Os Catalepticos , Pagan Sound and Numbskulls. Not enough tune and rhythm and too much thrash/roaring , at least for mine.

On the other hand , I felt the standout bands were Zombie Ghost Train , BR Phantoms , the Koffin Kats ( especially Mors Ex Supera ) and the 12 Step Rebels. Oh and Santa Muerta by Banane Metalik.

Being already a fan of the Meteors and Tiger Army , I was familiar with their tracks ( hope that doesn't sound ungrateful ... ).

Have you already heard the new BR Phantoms album ? Would like to hear what you make of it if so .

Actually , I'm now downloading Among Dead Men ...

I had figured the metal ones weren't going to be big. A previous friend asked for a mix of different songs and he comes from a 'metal' background, thus explaining the harder songs.
Black Rose Phantoms are awesome! Yeah, I follow some of their blogs and tried to
win an Among Dead Men CD, but to no avail.
A really great album.

Are you a fan of Nekromantix?

To be honest , I've never heard anything done by Nekromantix ? What's the verdict ?

Finished listening to Among Dead Men. I just can't share your enthusiasm for it ... maybe a rumble with switchblades in a back-alley will solve this dispute ? Well , alright , perhaps not - more sensibly , I was only taken with two or three tracks i.e. Beyond the purple hills ( which , happily , reminds me very much of the Tiger Army song "In The Orchard"), Her Killing Floor & Fallen Decadency. So ,yes , you hit the nail right on the head when suspecting the metal-ish tracks weren't going to win my heart :o ...

I'm a HUGE Nekromantix fan. A lot of their earlier work is just amazing imo.
Their back up vocals is what makes their albums so great.
They have some good releases.
I'd recommend Brought Back To Life and Demons Are A Girl's Best Friend.

I'll upload those two

Guess we'll have to postpone that alleyway showdown :D . Thanks once more for the upload offer ; looking forward to it ...

Sorry about that.
A bit late, but here you go.

Both albums should be inside.
Tell me what you hate and love!

Just as an aside, I noticed your uploaded version of "'Born To Be Alive" ( yes, everyone, a cover of that Patrick Hernandez disco classic) had lots of pops and clicks through it. Ended up d/l'ing the Youtube version and converting to mp3. If you'd like an improved copy of the track , MozAngeles818 ( which is good fun, isn't it , much like the original) ...

Am still digesting the albums. Thank you for this ( you generous freak :) ! )

I realise it's now perhaps become quite boring to keep reading about my enthusiasm but .... HOLY SHIT ! My head has definitely been spun about. The Nekromantix album "Demons Are a Girls Best Friend" ( as featured above in MozAngeles818's mediafire link) is the best psychobilly album I've ever heard. If you have a 100Mb to spare and enjoy uber-music or have ever been vaguely curious about psychobilly as a genre , do yourself the favour ...

I never thought I'd hear a song mix metal-ish influences and surf guitar ( how does that even make sense ? But it does ! ) as well as the Nekromantix track Last Night I Saved An Angel ...

Now, I'll try to spare this thread any more of my brainwashed rantings ( well , for a couple of days at least )...
