The Moz/Smiths Top 100, FINAL RESULTS!!

My name made it to #156! haha yay.

I wasn't surprised that There Is A Light That Never Goes Out got the most votes. and I was not disappointed either. :D

I used to always wait in suspense while the page loaded to see what the poll of the day was, haha.

1) There Is A Light That Never Goes Out (1986) 9,89

2) Everyday Is Like Sunday (1988) 9,59
3) Still Ill (1984) 9,57
4) I Know It’s Over (1986) 9,56
5) Suedehead (1988) 9,55
6) The Queen Is Dead (1986) 9,55
7) Now My Heart Is Full (1994) 9,55
8) Speedway (1994) 9,54
9) This Charming Man (1983) 9,50
10) Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want (1984) 9,50

11) The Headmaster Ritual (1985) 9,48
12) The Last Of The Famous International Playboys (1989) 9,46
13) Rubber Ring (1985) 9,43
14) Why Don’t You Find Out For Yourself (1994) 9,42
15) Panic (1985) 9,41
16) Reel Around The Fountain (1984) 9,41
17) Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before (1987)

Hmmm. Quite a predictable top ten in the end. Not quite sure what Still Ill is doing in there, especially when you see something like Lost at 95. Suedehead seems to be there for nostalgia reasons - it's not his best solo song by a long way. And I would suggest Stop Me... has only got so high because of the recent Ronson atrocity. Nice to see so many solo Moz songs in the top twenty though. Very interesting. Good work, Houdini!

So out of 70 (I think) Smiths songs, 55 have made it into the Top 100. Morrissey's solo work has 45 songs out of 164. Amazing result for the combination of Mr Morrissey and Mr Marr - really highlights the consistency of those years. A good result for Stephen Street, too, some of his work being right at the top of the pile.

Only one song post-Quarry is a little depressing, too.

Still, well done, Houdini - thanks for all your work, this has been great. And it'll make a very nice playlist for my iPod. :D

Only 3 post-2000 in the top 50.
Only 8 post-2000 in the top 100.

Mostly 80's songs in the top 10.

Indeed, of the 73 Smiths songs only 18 failed to make the Top 100.
Of the 161 Morrissey songs 116 failed to make the Top 100.

But the best of Morrissey can compete with the best of The Smiths, seeing as they both have 7 songs in the top-14.

Thanks for all the work to put this together. I think it is a list that everyone can respect.

I'm waiting for it to turn up as a magazine article soon.

:) :guitar::D:p

YAY
I'm very pleased by the results.
and I'm kinda semi gonna miss these little polls of much pleasant discussion about our dear Mozzy.
Anyway :)

Thank you.
I don't like the fact that there is a light is No.1 as it was going to be, but the majority of people think it's great so...

Very interesting statistics.

@ Houdini. We had a few problems with elections for the Scottish Parliament last may. Do you think you could run them next time?

Well done.

Wow thanks for doing this. I had fun voting on it. I figured that song would be #1. Intersting to see the ranking for all the songs.

hmm. i disagree with the placement of asleep but hey, alls fair in love and moz so-low:D

The poor Dykes should not have scored so low :( But nice to see Journalists at the bottom. I hate that song

mhh, the first song from an album this century is at number 40...
first of the gang to die

I'm a bit dissapointed, numbers 20,21,22,23,24 should all be in the top 10

but as the great Houdini said it's the final result of all of ours who
voted, so I should not moan, but proud that I was one of the lots who
voted daily and made this poll to an end

Next week in the NME you can read the top 10 and results and some
comments from us.

I hope this poll will be archived, and maybe some day, 5 studio albums
further when I'm 53 maybe do it again:cool:

Thanks Houdini R E S P E C T
