The Origin Of Morrissey Dissent

I post and comment here very, very rarely. But when I do so, I at least pay attention to what I am replying to.

I never wrote he was talking to the parents. I never wrote he said the deaths of their children is nothing.

He did say what I, and earlier Verso, quoted. It's a fact. A FACT. You are just trying to interpret the offensive words of your hero because you are unable to say he was an asshole. So what if he was? Not the end of the world. As a singer, I still loved songs he released after this. comment. Why is it so hard to admit it?
I don't cause drama. I simply hold a comment against the person who made it. Though I had no connection to the victims at all, it's still an insensitive, outrageous and idiotic comment. If anyone said this in front of me about victims of any shootings, I'd leave the conversation at this point as obviously the person has zero empathy and not much intelligence.

I don't care about the Animal Liberation. I don't eat meat and try to get to a point soon where I don't wear any product made from an animal. Still I would never go as far as hurting people's feeling to get my point across.

He was not being an asshole - it was not offensive.

What is offensive is widely reporting that he told the parents of children that their deaths didn't matter.

You have repeatedly said to me that it's the same as telling him that his mother's death is nothing.

That is not what animal liberation is about.

I suggest you read the book.

This thread was encouraging people to offer thoughts on Morrissey 'dissent' - in other words, how and why there is negativity around him, how he managed to 'turn off' so many people, what that's like for fans who have gotten a bit fed up and how they see their relationship with him. You do not need to jump in, preaching about why you think the dissent is wrong and poor Mozzer is just misunderstood, etc, etc, trying to invalidate the opinions of other fans 24/7. Wind your neck in!

I replied to a post that was saying no one had tried to justify that particular thing - or however he phrased it.

I didn't just jump in.

Ok, then I don't tell him. I tell the people of internet who were sending condolences: people, Morrissey's mother's death is nothing compared to what happens in KFC every day. Is it better? Of course it isn't.

Again, I don't give a damn about animal liberation. Please give me a break about it. No one, not one person is allowed to say such hurtful and insensitive comments upon a shooting. No case justifies this. Because for many, he was offensive, and he was an asshole. So, no matter how I liked 'World peace" (because I did), when he played my town I didn't attend his gig. And I don't plan to do so anymore.

I rest my case - I don't want to change your mind or convince you. But accept if others think otherwise.

He did not say the deaths were nothing or nothing in comparison.

If you hate animal liberationists - fine.

To explain another way - what he was saying is:

you will have seen the murders in Norway on the news - what you won't have seen is the millions of murders that happen every day as part of the meat industry.

Not touring Vauxhall & not trying to repeat the formula with Southpaw.
May be an unpopular opinion, but he was so big (live) in 91/92 and did his
best studio album in 94, that is all got a bit less exciting afterwards.
There was kind of a comeback with Quarry, but the following studio outputs were
mediocre. His ill-advised comments on a lot of subjects (Yes, I know: Free speech)
in the last 10 years, led him nowhere but further down.

There was a huge comeback with Quarry. I remember. He was the darling of the rock press and the mainstream press that year. You couldn't get tickets for the London shows for love nor money.

That's not what he said.

You're far more scary because you can't grasp a philosophy & would cause drama by misrepresenting it.

He was not talking to the parents of dead children.

He did not say the deaths of their children is nothing.
He was speaking publicly. He knew it would be repeated. He said the deaths of their children are nothing "compared to" something that matters to him.
You're not helpful. Your insistence on claiming he didn't say things that he said and keeping the worst of everything he's ever said in current circulation is the opposite of what he would require to rehabilitate his image.

How is "what he was saying" not what he actually said?
If we're going to interpret this try "what he was saying is" that when a Muslim kills children at an Arianda Grande concert in Manchester "the anger is monumental" but when Anders Breivik kills children because of his views against Islam, it is "nothing compared to what happens in McDonald's and Kentucky Fried shit every day."

If you think the Islamic angle isn't part of this his comments on the Manchester attack included, "Manchester mayor Andy Burnham says the attack is the work of an ‘extremist’. An extreme what? An extreme rabbit?"
"An extreme what?" makes it pretty clear that who is doing the murdering factors into how much of an outrage it is.

But go on and "explain another way."

I was reflecting on how there are more posts on this site from 'fans' who disparage Morrissey than there are those who support him.

It got me wondering as to what era this dissent started creeping in.

I know much of it is simply posted to counter balance the sycophants who then up their level of blind adoration in similar rebellion.

Before the internet's widespread adoption though, I remember fans at concerts and in fanzines starting to criticise the musical output during the Southpaw era.

Many had got tired of the Alain Whyte 'Unisong' where you knew what it sounded like before you heard it. Many fans yearned for Moz to seek a new songwriting foil as they'd been spoiled by Marr, Reilly and Street's output prior to that point.

It was also felt that Moz had stopped caring about the high standard of composition and lyric that had gained him his fame and following to begin with.

Interestingly, many now yearn for the return of Whyte, probably due to his era being the one in which they became a fan.

When did you start the process of turning from Moz worshipper into objective moderate or outright hater and what influenced you to do it?
The Smiths and the Rockabilly band of A.W., G.D., B.B. S.C., we're golden, impossible to repeat. The MTV videos, the Shows of that era and the very time itself was a perfect fit. Can you really imagine the snowflakes and virtue signallers of today liking, Y.T.O.F.M.F ? It's all been the slow descending spiral since then.

Alain wrote some good songs but he also wrote a ton of bland indie filler. The quality of the songwriting on 'Dog on a Chain' is way above that of the average Morrissey Whyte composition.
With thinking like that, it isn't a dog on a chain, but your mumm...kept tied down so it won't reproduce idiocy...again.

How did Morrissey turn off so many people ? Well, for starters, calling the Chinese a subspecies, though hilarious, made 3 billion turn off that day. Hope it's human flesh cooking that I smell and chewing gum in class was the final straw for the do-gooders and well intended fake plastic robots from the p.c. factory, ...who are all the same identical pathetic persona. Truly "dead from the neck up" & "dumb unto death". 2 new song titles ...free of charge Morrissey.

For me personally, I looked past, or misinterpreted, or just plain tried to dismiss plenty of things as 'stupid shit Morrissey says' and look on the good side. What really opened my eyes was that leaked letter that revealed his reaction to the massacre at the Bataclan was to see it as an opportunity for a hit single. It's kind of hard to have any sympathy for the guy after that.

Don't worry, soon our in-house PR specialist will arrive and explain to you what he actually meant!

YTOFMF?
Oh wait, I know what that is. I did hate that song then and I still do.

Love to see someone else saying snowflakes & virtue signallers👍👍👍. There is hope for this forum yet.

We are not alone.

She's really proud of her sexuality. With most women, it's just bravado, but Kylie's the real deal.
Strange thing about her is how small she really is, it's as if the cameras 'blow her up' to emphasise her 'senxy' body but some creepy paparazzi guy photographs her going out for a pint o milk and she's about 2 feet tall and looks like Gayle Tildsley from Corrie!
