Where else could it have possibly gone? The moment the narrative was steered towards Lisa going to see modern-day “Quilloughby," it was pretty obvious what the punchline was going to be. Not much room for nuance over the course of a 20-minute cartoon.

I know! f***ing character arcs.

I'm not going to approve though.

Does the irony ever play out in any other way?
unfortunately, he was a marked man from the get and cancel culture was wating for him, despite the so-called fawning by the writing staff....complete cowards....

Oh yes, that cursed cancel culture. Now let's sue the writers!
I would never boycott any tv show or corporation, but what's different here is slander, and in the U.S. there are laws against that, ball is now in Morrissey's court, if he wants to make a few million of Fox, then I say go for it....

Wow...lies/fake/stupidity hit piece that they needed to make in 2021...for what reason???

Let’s cancel Moz in 2021...let’s get on the other side of the issue because basically ALL our characters that have been developed since the 1980s are going to be on the hot seat starting...now.

I wouldn't bother.

It's a deeper problem.

He's so reclusive that myths build - something needs to take down the whole lot.

Harsh Truth

Ever Felt Had?
Predictable ending, sadly. (Sad because Morrissey's own words and actions are what have landed him here.)

That said, much of the rest of the story was mildly entertaining and well-done. I especially enjoyed the song "Everyone is Horrid Except Me (And Possibly You)"

It appears to have played out as I first anticipated. Though I can’t deny my hopes were up. Given recent Simpsons headlines, they’d have been in trouble if they’d have done anything else? Though we might speculate they’ve deliberately exploited Morrissey to take a little heat off themselves.

Learned about this episode literally 1 hour before airing.

Hoping for light hearted & funny...”my only mistake is I’m hoping...my only mistake is I keep hoping.“

☝️ Tend to agree.

The initial person sharing artwork & her 'fan' husband feel this was a 'labour of love'.
Central asserted it was celebrating 'The Snuffs'...
It is what it is.
To think I interrupted my RE Village demo for it :)

So sad...cut it off during the start of the concert scene. Celebrate the legacy not tear it down! The Simpson's sucks! I will never watch again. Maybe Lisa can learn to be nice to people in the next "imaginary friend" episode??? Matt Sleman!

It's a parody, that's usually protected speech and not subject to defamation suits. I'm sure the Simpsons people know the legal ramifications.

I am sure they greenlighted this, yes, however, there are growing defamation suits, especially in parody lawsuits involving Twitter which have seen sucess. (https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3600145) while parody can serve to make light of an otherwise heavy subject. satire is almost always a defense to defamation, parody stands as a defense when the statement is deemed to be so ridiculous that the average person could not believe it. Could the average person tend not to believe Fox portrays Moz as a rasicst in this episode? Fox really was blatant here and left no stone unturned. A jury could be convincd otherwise.

Not sure why I got my hopes up that The Simpsons tonight would be funny or relevant, since both are something it hasn't been for 2 decades now.

The stunning irony of mocking Morrissey as being outdated, changing from who he was, and just looking for a payday is too much too handle here. What The Simpsons has become is everything they attempted to mock tonight. Woke drivel and just cashing those checks from the network.

The kind of people who think someone like Trevor Noah's shtick is funny probably liked this episode.

It was absolutely disgusting. To portray him the way they did at the end, fat, old...and eating meat like a wild dog. Just unbelievably cruel.
