Thread for Appreciation of 2000s Indie (2000-2009)

Also a big fan of this era in indie music. Bright Eyes, Postal Service, 2000's era National, all things Tim Kasher, DCFC and so on.

The passing of time and all of its sickening crimes...

The Postal Service album is just ridiculously great.

It really is. So are the b-sides. Especially Be Still My Heart. Incredible.
That video you posted didn’t work, by the way.

The decemberists - the rain

Of Montreal - so begins our alabee

Neutral milk hotel - oh comely

Second the tim kasher love. Bright eyes also made some good music along with Wilco the shins etc

Anyone like JJ72?
Mild Radiohead/Placebo vibe with an Irish twist.
I liked his voice at the time (2000 onward), not so keen now, but the first album was good.
(potato quality YT - apologies).

Regards,
FWD.

I remember discovering Delays in the spring of 2004 while I was in 6th form. I’ve loved them ever since. Criminally underrated.

f***! This one has been a staple in my doomed heart since I first heard it 15 years ago. Masterpiece. Great album too. And Conor is still making devastating stuff.

VHS or Beta - at first I thought they sounded like a Cure clone, but I came to like them.

The Dears - think Smiths/Morrissey were obviously an influence ... not a bad thing at all.

Pleasure with Brett Anderson on vocals. On hindsight, Brett said he wished he'd kept this song for himself.

pretend i posted transatlanticism by death cab for cutie
