So hard to choose! - only just scratching the surface of so many excellent 80's bands really.

The Smiths
The The
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
The Sugarcubes
The Go-Betweens

Great thread :)

My 5:
1 Electronic
2 The Smiths
3 New Order
4 Depeche Mode
5 Erasure

I know some of these are still going strong, but I think their 80s tracks were their best.

Using JohnnyMare's theory of "I know some of these are still going strong, but I think their 80s tracks were their best"...

and in no particular order. Today, i choose:

Cure
Mary Chain
Bauhaus
Soft Cell
Japan Japan (cross between Duran and Japan)

No need to include Moz variants, as i wouldn't be on this forum if i didn't agree that he is a divine creature.:)

The Smiths
Depeche Mode
David Bowie (though I like his 70's records much more)
Pink Floyd (The Wall and The Final Cut)/Roger Waters
Queen

When did you discover Razorcuts, The Bodines and The Shop Assistants?

Pity I didn't have a chance to see their live in 1986.

Ages ago! They're great bands, none of them are together though....The Shop Assistants should have dominated the 1980s. Except they were put back on the shelf!

1 Echo & the Bunnymen
2 Pet Shop Boys/Erasure (tie)
3 The Smiths
