What's your favourite female singers?

Shit! I forgot to mention Kathleen Hannah.

Me too. I love her in Bikini Kill especially, and Le Tigre are also very cool.

I forgot to put Natalie Merchant on my list. :)

:)

I've always loved the idea that there was someone in the creative staff of BK who was a fan of Lush and the reason why the main character was named Berényi Miki was a cool inside joke.

I wish. That would be the only thing I could possibly like about BK.

At present I am really into DUFFY, she is just amazing!!
I also like DUSTY SPRINGFIELD and PATSY KENSIT : her vocals on I AM NOT SCARED are just divine and she looks amazing
Cheers Moz

Kim Deal for the win.

Followed by Nina Simone, PJ Harvey, Siouxsie Sioux, Anna Karina, Tobi Vail, Kathleen Hanna, Patti Smith, Kim Gordon....I'm sure there are many I've left out.

Oh, and to whoever mentioned Karen Carpenter: yes. Her voice is so haunting. My mum used to play The Carpenters when I was a child and for some reason I can't hear one of their songs now without a surge of sadness overcoming me, which is really strange. Her voice was amazing.

I like Amy Mcdonald. Not heard much of her of late though.

Etta James, Sarah Vaughan, Kirsty MacColl...:thumb:
