.

too much Oasis, especially considering that 3 of those songs(champagne, dont look back, and wonderwall)were actually pretty big mainstream hits, so then how could they be considered "indie"?

...oh geez, i just noticed Smells like Teen Spirit, wtf?? thats no "indie" anthem! that was like, THE most popular song of the decade. (notice i said most POPULAR, not necessarily BEST, thx.) umm, yeah.

Im a little suprised and dissapointed that none of Morrissey's solo stuff is on that list.

First of the gang to die should be on there!!

Uh, the result is already on their site.
The Smiths songs split the vote which is good and bad at the same time.

A hair indie list, sooo predictable. These types of lists should exclude anything fro the last 5 years. Will the Gossip and the Klaxons feature in 5 years time etc etc

How have Babyshambles made the list? :(

Because the ambulance chasers are kakking their pants in anticipation of Pete Doherty's untimely demise; his next song could be 'Pete woz 'ere / eez come over all queer', repeated ad infinitum and the sycophants would still proclaim it one of the greatest pieces of poetry since Byron's death rattle.
It's the same reason 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' came in at #2; everyone adores a casualty. Just imagine (or rather don't, cause it's an awful thought) if Morrissey had topped himself in the wake of the NME racism scandal; he'd be up there with Elvis as a tragedy of the industry and indeed, feted as one of the greatest rock stars of all time.

The Libertines made the list because their music means a lot to many people my age.. i actually do think they will be remembered in 15/20 years time, whereas klaxons and the gossip probably won´t.. The Libertines had catchy tunes and great lyrics and they gave a lot of people hope in contemporary music again.. i know that´s what they did for me.. and i´ve seen the reaction at clubs when Libertines are played.. a few years back, but even now, and it definitly stands out.. i think they deserve their spot for Don´t Look Back Into The Sun and Time For Heroes.. i don´t get Nirvana at all. the song is rubbish in my opinion and Live Forever is highly overrated.

Yeah, and where are CARTER USM???! Oh, that's right, they are down the dumper.

Could Morrissey's exclusion from this list be because he is not indie, whereas The Smiths were? Just a thought.

It ended up that way, but at the time it was pretty "indie." Most of that stuff looks mainstream in retrospect. Except a few, like "f*** Forever." Now THERE's an anthem (not that I've heard the song).

Nice to see "Cut Your Hair" on there, the 2nd best song about haircutting of which I'm aware...

Oasis make me want to vomit
