YES, THERE WERE TIMES

November 27, 2020

"Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall
And did it my way"

Moz as usual

paddling his own canoe!

I'm cutting my own way
Through my own day
And all I dare say is
It's my own
I've got my own seeds
I've got my own weeds
I've got my own harvest
That I've sown
Now I can tell you
Things I've done
And I can sing you
Songs I've sung
But there's one thing
I can't give
For I and I alone can live
The years I've known
And the life I've grown
Have got a way I'm going
And it's my way
I've got my own stakes
In my own game
I've got my own name
And it's my way
I've got my own wrong
I've got my own right
I've got my own fight
And it's my way
I've got my own peace
I've got my own wrath
I've got my own path that only I can go
I've got my own sword in my own hand
I've got my own plan that only I can know
Don't be sighing
Don't be crying
Your day will come
Your day alone
Years you'll know and a life you'll grow
You got a way to go and it's all on your own
I've got my own world
I've got my own life
I've got my own strife
And it's my way
I've got my own kith
I've got my own kin
I've got my own sin
And it's my way
I've got my own prayers
I've got my own fears
I've got my own tears
And it's my way
I've got my own joy
I've got my own load
I've got my own road
And it's my way
The years I've known and the life I've grown
Got a way I'm going and it's my way
Don't be crying
don't be sighing
Your day will come
your day alone
Put down the story of what I've known
Your bound for glory all on your own
Put down the story of what I say
You're bound for glory
All on your own one day

For what is a Turkey, what has it got
If not yaself, then it has not
To step the steps it truly feels
And not the dance of one who kneels
The cornballs hate, yet I feel great
Doin' it the Wild T way!

- Turk Sinatra :tiphat:

As ever Morrissey will remain true to himself, he'll never back down and in his own words from a few years ago..."I may be getting old but I'll never cave in" (paraphrased). I am so proud of you Moz 👍

glad to see you made it through thanksgiving, wild t!!! thought maybe we might not be seeing you around these parts anymore...

This is one of the best cover versions of all time.

There's Hendrix's version of All Along The Watchtower, Red House Painters' version of Silly Love Songs, Morrissey's version of That's Entertainment, and Sid Vicious' version of My Way:

*sticking to his own canoe 😉

and rowing his
OWN boat !

“I don't go around with the local crowd
I don't dig what's in so I guess I'm out
I'm saying these things
So you know me, baby
So, you understand what I'm all about

..............

“There ain't a man alive
Can tell me what to say
I choose my own side and I like it that way
I don't worry about all the things that I'm not”

Always thought he should cover that one.

Morrissey was inspired by another song made very popular by Frank Sinatra. Spent The Day In Bed includes the line, 'Stop watching the news', which is the opposite of 'Start spreading the news', from New York, New York.

They are practically brothers!!

Thanks so much for this video. One of my favourite songs and never seen it! ❤️

Morrissey, Les Inrockuptibles magazine, 1995:

Q: In the song Speedway, you say you believe in loyalty, which can sound a bit paradoxical to someone who spends his time fighting with everybody.

M: I believe in my loyalty which is as developed as possible. What must be looked at is the others' loyalty towards me.

Q: Though when we listen to you, the loyalty you offer to others is quite particularly "strange".

M: My loyalty is strange because I'm strange (smile) ...

Q: In the next line, you bluntly sing "In my own sick way..."

M: Because I'm sick! I'm deeply ill! I should introduce you to my doctor ... I'm sick, I'm sick, I'm sick! I'm thirty-sick!” :lbf:

I reckon too right bloomin' onion this was the California Mom's favorite restaurant. I reckon she actually worked at this restaurant in 1958 when the California mom and dad arrived in Moz Angeles from the Republic of Ireland and later had her own table with the California Son, even though he prefers the more trendy Italian restaurants in West Hollywood. Full circle. I reckon flowers could of been left here, but I reckon any place in Moz Angeles would of been dangerous because of the delusional sociopath stalkers fark arse chipper curry inn nnn nn n nnn nn nn nn n it.
