Morrissey Central "YOUR VACCINATION:" (October 27, 2021)

That's the same joke you went for the last time & it'll be the one you go for the next time.

I don't care that you've got some personality disorder that makes you forever hang around this site slagging off Morrissey & trying to feel superior to a failed comedian - but it's not interesting.
Don’t put him off. We were creasing up.

Let’s not even begin to get into who cracks the same joke over and over again — at least in my case it’s intentional.

My son declared himself a Marxist recently. Obviously I pointed him to Nietzsche, with the best intentions. Yesterday he said he’s getting into Buddhism. 🥰

It's a good time to be a socialist if he's interested in new directions.

Socialism seems quite particular amongst the noise. Today’s context can’t cope with the National in nationalisation? But I’m laughing as I see it going on, almost daily. They’re calling it ‘the ownership of last resort’ as opposed to ‘behold failure’.

Yes. I’m proud of him. But he’s a kid and hasn’t digested everything. His birthday present was the “Morrissey is a Crooner” t-shirt. It won’t help.

In answer to the question “Best band ever?” today one of my kids said The Smiths. It was welcome but surprising. I also love Bee Gees, Four Seasons, Pink Floyd, Stone Roses, New Order, Michael Jackson, Beatles. But so nice to hear that. Great, actually. And he spoke so unprobematically about them being the equal of the Beatles. Obviously I fear for him too.

And? One of my kids said Einstürzende Neubauten was the best band ever and the other one said that the "band" designation was too passé to remark upon and that she preferred Ryuichi Sakamoto. They're both Anarcho-Communists.

You should be very proud. I’m just introducing mine to Nick Cave.

My kids love The Man Who Fell to Earth, and they have the soundtrack. Nevertheless, it’s The Smiths they really seem to love—I promise you kid.

I hope this helps. X

I think you’re making some gruesome curatorial decisions but there’s obviously no better time to dive into the Smiths than as a teenager. I assume your son is in the prime demographic?

You are correct in your assumption. Although, we saw OMD last night and he was fascinated. They offer a very different take on the same context.

It’s a running joke about the music of our time seeming the best, but OMD and The Smiths happened ‘long’ before I could afford LPs. And yet these are enduring for me now.

The most stunning thing was one of my nippers being absorbed with Scritti Politti (OMD support). And then saying he wants an LP: obviously I’m not supporting that, I could’ve marched him out myself.

Goodness me Moz is now pushing vids of Tucker Carlson's rants on his audience??! This might be the point where I say "bye bye"
Please don't, think of the effect it would have!

Hitler used to play the banjo and he was a socialist! Makes you think doesn't it?

I bet you're Glad he didn't say Michael Jackson was his favorite band eh?

Credibility matters. I’m not watching tucker Carlson
Good for you! Im not eating sprouts. Sometimes its good to get these things off one's chest and share it with a couple of million people.

That is interesting. I can only take so much of Green's shtick in one sitting and it's definitely not something I'd recommend to a teenager.

It took me a while to come around to my parents' music, not out of any conscious sense of rebelliousness but simply as aesthetic preference. A bluesy lead would send me running, so post-punk is where I landed. I don't think I attended any shows with my parents until my mid/late-20s when I sort of softened my position on the boomer canon.

Moz has become a disappointment as a person to me. It's undeniable. But, honestly, I only say that because he claims to be vegan. I don't think he helps the cause any longer. Still, does he really deserve the hate? He's a dysfunctional, flawed person. Who isn't to some degree? (P.S. only blithering idiots like Tucker)
