Unreleased demos from Years of Refusal sessions

On a one listen impression, these seem more like in-studio jams to loosen up rather than full-blown song takes. There wasn't much in the way of melodic structures. I had hoped they might be the unfinished Alain Whyte tracks that were never completed before Jerry Finn passed, but that would not...

Looking for standalone Alsatian Cousin rip from this promo

Waiting for the re-release where the end of "Alsatian Cousin" cross fades into the cut-off portion of "There Speaks a True Friend." ;) Sorry, a little bad "Morrissey reissue versions" joke for the completists here.

    YATQ live?

Not in concert, but the uptempo "It's Hard To Walk Tall When You're Small" was part of the December 2004 Janice Long session. It was issued on the "Redondo Beach" DVD single. "I Am Two People" was also never played live.

    Boy racer (Instrumental)

It's a shame that the YouTube poster has misleadingly titled the video "Instrumental Miraval Demo." This is Alain's home studio demo. But that seems to be par for the course with the Southpaw era demos. The giveaway is always the drum machine.

Old Billy Tune (unreleased Morrissey track)

Alain seems to have decreased his FB visibility in the past year or so. Most times he posts nowadays it's regarding his Stadium project or his kids. When "Born To Hang" popped up last year, he implied that it was one of several of his side project songs that he was resurrecting for a solo...

Old Billy Tune (unreleased Morrissey track)

Very nice, Lee B - your melody line really highlighted the potential of the tune. Thanks for sharing. I'm sure Alain would be appreciative of the effort.

    Lucky Lisp alternate version

https://www.morrissey-solo.com/threads/last-of-the-famous-test-pressing-with-alternate-lucky-lisp-on-ebay.114852/ Interesting how little commentary this generated. I didn't remember being aware it existed. I can't recall who provided it, but circa the bulk rarities drop around the holidays in...

Looking for Kit and It's Hard to Walk Tall

Did Jonny also play some of the outtake demos from Vauxhall and Southpaw in the same interview? I recall Goddard clearly described the Vauxhall cassette and what "Sharp Curve, Fast Car, Goodbye" and "Laughing Anne" sounded like in Mozipedia.

Looking for Kit and It's Hard to Walk Tall

Ah, yes - I do recall you mentioning this when "Kit" and the original "It's Hard To Walk Tall When You're Small" came to fore. I find it especially odd that the latter three have never leaked since - according to Simon Goddard, at least - they have no vocals or associated lyrics. They would seem...

Looking for Kit and It's Hard to Walk Tall

Now that the holiday season approaches again, it rekindles the perennial question: when will the remainder of the Maladjusted/B-side session outtakes finally see the light of day? (I.e., "I Know Who I Love," the first version of "No One Can Hold A Candle To You," "Hanratty," "Nightmare," "The...

@Famous when dead : Cheers, and understood. I hadn't ran across your post at the time of writing, so apologies for the redundant request.

Old Billy Tune (unreleased Morrissey track)

Along the same lines, could anyone share the song Spencer shared on FB, "Born To Hang?" NOT the Morrissey outtake, the song recorded by Spencer, Alain, and Gary in 1996. Many thanks, Jamie

Old Billy Tune (unreleased Morrissey track)

It's a shame that the whole set that the Motivators EP was culled from was never released. I know that several of the songs (e.g., "I Miss You" and "Crushed") were repurposed for Red Lightning but a few - including "Face Value" and the really lovely "In Your Hands" - were not. I certainly had a...

"Vauxhall And I" aborted re-release bonus tracks

Very few of the tracks from that aborted reissue series remain "in the wild," namely: Little Man, What Now? (Acoustic version) Hairdresser On Fire (Early version) My Love Life (Full length version) Such A Little Thing Makes Such a Big Difference (Electric demo) There Speaks a True Friend...

"Your Arsenal" aborted re-release bonus tracks

Bumping this thread: Has the uncut version of "There Speaks a True Friend" surfaced anywhere since the deluge of unreleased material got leaked last year?

    laughing anne wanted

Unfortunately, it's unlikely that Stephane will pop in to confirm or deny, but this is very probably not "Laughing Anne." I'm pasting the info about that track from Passions Just Like Mine below. Also, the sound (drum machine, guitar style) is consistent with Boz's Southpaw-era demos while...

"Vauxhall And I" aborted re-release bonus tracks

Thanks for that tidbit. Bill Inglot's mastering work has often been very good, which makes it disconcerting to hear such "so-so" results. Interesting that they were creating new mixes for this release a la The Beatles Anthology. On a reissue, I feel it is kind of an artistically cheapened way...

"Vauxhall And I" aborted re-release bonus tracks

Ah, yes, the Viva Hate outtakes, too. Thanks for the correction, IR. I would agree with 2-J that the full-length version of There Speaks a True Friend is the most enticing of the remainder to me, with perhaps the early version of Hairdresser on Fire as a close second. The first thing that...

"Vauxhall And I" aborted re-release bonus tracks

I believe the only unleaked tracks from the Rhino series are Get Off The Stage (alternate) - perhaps the most underwhelming outtake anticipated yet? -, Such a Little Thing...("Electric Demo"), and the full length version of There Speaks a True Friend.

"Vauxhall And I" aborted re-release bonus tracks

My ears agree with your assessments. Neither sounds like a complete, ready-as-is-for-release mix. If you listen closely during the middle eight of Swallow, you can vaguely hear Spencer's drum track underneath. In fact, first impression was that it was a bad "fan remix" hoax. And I don't know who...
