Didn't Moz dabble a couple of times though? One thing i read in the 'strange facts' bit of NME said that he once took an E and just stared at himself in the mirror. Very Moz, no?
He's always been the purveyor of the sensationalist statement, as he knows the value of mystique and controversy in maintaining stardom. Well, there's that and the fact that he sometimes just speaks his mind according to how he feels at the time. The journo who took that quote probably caught him in a misanthropic moment. Johnny Marr has said that during his time with The Smiths Moz could be just like any other bloke, chatting, joking and, if not partaking in the weed smoking and drinking, generally having fun being in a band. Of course, he had his moments, but that's why he's so unique.
Anyways, 'Bedwetter' my arse. I'll bet Moz could take on any wussy writer in a fight.

I don't think he has ever claimed to be teatotal. It's been more that people have assumed he is because in their eyes that goes with being celibate and not taking drugs.

Like in the way people are surprised that he was good at sport because he liked flowers and books. You can't be interested in both - must fit the stereotype.
