The Labour Party the Socialists was born out of the Trade Unions and started only in 1900 a young party really!! of course New Labour is even younger!!
Where as the Liberals and Tories are the older parties!!!
Yes at used to just be a two horse race with the Liberals and Tories!!
PLEASE REMEMBER LLOYD GEORGE. PLEASE REMNEMBER WE HAVE HAD LIBERAL PRIME-MISTERS!!! IN QUEEN VICTORIA'S LONG REIN WE HAD LIBERAL PRIME-MISTERS AND WE CAN HAVE THEM AGAIN!!
YES the Lib-Dems are a modern concept: the joining of the Social Democrates with the Liberals. But even the Lib-Dems are older than 'New' Labour. The Liberals are an old well astablished British party older by far than the Labour Party!!!
All you have to do is vote for your local Lib-Dem candidate this Thursday!!

You are absolutely correct Andy.
However, since the emergence of the Labour party, the Liberals have fell by the wayside. I really don't think they will ever be as powerful again.
The Labour Party was formed for the working class, neither of the two parties at the time really fulfilled that role.

Re: The Lib-Dems are far more Scocialist than 'New' Labour sorry but it's true!!!

Yes, I would agree with you there Andy.
They are more like the "old" labour party.
However their open doors policy on immigration puts me off.
The fact of the matter is, they do not hold enough sway amongst the electorate.
I would like to see them given a chance, I really would, but we know it won't happen.
In local elections it's fine voting Liberal, this city has had a Liberal run council for many years. When it comes to a General Election however, it's a different matter. You and I know the Liberals cannot gain enough seats to run Parliament, therefore, in effect it is a wasted vote. It allows one or the other parties to get in. If you follow my meaning.

Re: A wasted vote is NOT voting at all! If you vote Lib-Dems they will get in it is that simple!!!!

Yes, I would agree with you there Andy.
