I've come across some real gems, but know nothing about them. Can anyone fill in dates/stories regarding these.
1 The Smiths doing Hendrix's Purple Haze (a sound cherck?);
2. Acoustgic version of The Beatles' Across The Universe;
3. What do you see in him?
4. The Smiths doing Everyday Is Like Sunday pre-split with some dodgy backing vox;
5. A great track called The Happy Song
Help me out fellow anoraks...

"What Do You See in Him" was the original name for "Wonderful Woman" which appeared on the "This Charming Man" B -side.There was a slight tinkering to the lyrics at some point.

I think a version of "Purple Haze" was sound checked at a Scottish date.Probably Eden Court, Inverness on 01/10/85.

Number 2 would surprise me as Moz is not a Beatles fan.Unless it was done without vocals.No idea about 4 and 5

What Do You See In Him? appears on a recording of the Feb 1983 Hacienda show - it's on various bootlegs, including the fantastic Nice Bit Of Meat LP which also features Purple Haze. The sleeve claims this to have been taken from a soundcheck in Glasgow, 16/7/86.

Can't help on the others, I'm afraid.

Have you got 2, 4 and 5?
I've got some unreleased studio Smiths instrumental stuff.
Could you post these somewhere & I'll post mine.
