The just-released Zagat Survey's Music Guide polled 10,500 music "aficianados", and whittled down a list of 2500 best albums to come up with the top 1,000.

The Top 10 (though I'm not sure they're in exact order):

Springsteen's "Born to Run"
Beatles "Abbey Road"
Beatles "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"
U2 "The Joshua Tree"
Beatles "The White Album"
Miles Davis "Kind of Blue"
Springsteen's "Darkness on the Edge of Town"
Beatles "Revolver"
Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon"
U2 "Achtung Baby"

Now I know this is hardly scientific, and who the hell knows how they define "aficianado". But regardless, how amazing is it that one group of four guys could produce four of the top ten albums of all f*cking time?

Big props to U2, too. Two albums in the list

We (Americans) suck. Springsteen and Miles, else naught.

They should have used the qualifier "mainstream albums"

My god, what a stupid list. I mean, those albums are all good, but perhaps not top ten material. I can only imagine how absolutely shit the rest of the list is though.

True. Or maybe I should have. Someone shell out the $15

So we can see where Queen is Dead lands

1...2...3...Not it!

You think it'd even be on there though? I mean, the "afficianados" seem to have some pretty pedestrian taste...

Compare & Contrast: VH-1's top 100 list

Those damn Beatles again...

The Beatles Revolver
Nirvana Nevermind
The Beach Boys Pet Sounds
Marvin Gaye What's Going On
Jimi Hendrix Experience Are You Experienced
The Beatles Rubber Soul
Stevie Wonder Songs in the Key of Life
The Beatles Abbey Road
Bob Dylan Blonde on Blonde
The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's

I remember when that was on. I almost barfed when I saw the Beach Boys in the Top Ten. Who makes these lists? Avril Lavigne?

With the 2 Springsteen albums maybe it was New Jerseyians who were polled.
Born to Run is only to be listened to driving down the Parkway(south of the Raritan Toll) with the top down or drunk at a beach house(until the police come and break up the party)

Oh, puh-lease. When have the great unthinking masses ever had any taste? Think about it - music, tabloid newspapers, soaps and other dumbass tv shows and dumb blockbuster movies.
When has popular taste ever reflected anything other than straightforward drivel?
