In Mexico by Morrissey (unofficial video)

Why did he try to bury it? I'm a bit bored with Morrissey today! Too busy to watch all of the video Light Housework has kindly shared.
I don't think an official reason was ever given - he allowed the video to be made, and then declined to do anything with it, then threatened legal action when the filmaker tried releasing it themselves. This was in 2000 during the 'wilderness years'- my hunch is Moz wasn't hugely impressed by the quality, and blocked it in favour of getting the far superior 'Importance of Being Morrissey' documentary produced a couple of years later.

It seems like the roughshod bootleg quality of South With Morrissey was somewhat intentional. For the time between Maladjusted and You Are The Quarry, Morrissey felt slightly insurgent - and making a document like this on the fly, with no label support, was brassy. The 1999-2000 and 2002 tours had a looseness and joy to them. It was the first time he was playing purely for the sake of playing - no record to hawk.
