Morrissey crying?

Over and over and over. "You are sick and you are not getting better."

So you get to this point where, knowing yourself that you are not sick, you start to distrust everyone around you because in the end, they're just going to call you sick and leave you alone. I never distrusted Morrissey, but I can see that he's not exactly who he says he is.

Wishing you better days ahead Crystal Geezer.
Ignore those who say things that are not helpful to you.

I hope Morrissey isn't crying tears of remorse at the moment.

I can't stand this sort of Morrissey fandom. "Oooh look he's crying (even though no one can see any tears). Isn't it great, we're all feeling our pain together. Morrissey feels our pain. We feel Morrissey's pain. Oh boo hoo!"

Meanwhile Morrissey's thinking "huh? Where's my beer?".

har! Brilliant :D I agree.

When I sign in this 4-page thread is only 2 pages long. That's because I don't view signatures.

Only when he's not thinking, "Hey, that chick in the front row is pretty hot."

Seeing him sing this up close, I have also come to the conclusion that there is an element (if only a minimal element) of theatrics involved. That did not make it any less beautifully-moving for me; I still got teary-eyed, something I don't do when listening to that track normally. His passion and ability to connect with the audience is undeniable.

It's not necessarily theatrics in order to fool people, it's more him taking the piss and having a laugh.

I dont believe this. When i fiist saw this video i didnt even think if hes acting or not. If you dont feel it - there is no help here.
And yes, like he would be capable to write something like this if hes "spoiled in togetherness" or whatever. I dont think its even possible to write these songs if you have paralell life full of happiness and joy.
I am not saying he doesnt have bright moments and brighter sides of life. But, he must be familiar with sadness too.

Yes, many people got teary-eyed. I don't blame 'em! I am far from being the only one to find Morrissey immensely moving.

I think I've seen about 40 Moz shows this year alone: EVERY TIME he sings Please x 3, he kneels down at the end and seems very emotional. And he ripped off his shirt during "But then you open your eyes and you see somebody you physically despise" EVERY TIME he sang it in 2007 and several times in 2006. But I think whether he is acting, being a showman, or being "authentic" is irrelevant. We audience members find an emotional truth watching him.

But it still doesn't prove that HE actually cried tears onstage as some are sloppily asserting with no convincing visual evidence -- just some links to blurry, usually far-off, mostly wide angle youtube clips and some unreliable personal memories filtered through selective bias along with projecting one's own heightened emotional responses such as crying onto Morrissey's own stage actions.

Case in point: the last clip (Melbourne) shows Morrissey stepping forward at the end of Please x 3 to shake hands. The first hand he shook was mine. As I remember it, he looked directly at me with ineffable tenderness and lunged forward with deliberation and force to shake my hand (and I wasn't even holding out my hand). But when I watch the viddy again, he didn't seem to lunge at all. He just seemed to stroll over nonchalantly to shake some hands.

Does it mean I'm not right in the head for remembering it the way I have? Probably :p Yeah, but I'm not the one claiming without compelling evidence that Morrissey cried tears onstage.

I think I remember Moz as lunging toward me because he got up fairly quickly and to my great surprise, looked directly at me and gave me a handshake unbidden.

Maybe he already knew that this was going to be his last show for a while, that Miami wasn't gonna be on because of his voice. I dunno. But I'll take his direct advice to me on Halloween night -- "Stay curious; it's better that way."

Agreed. But "Please Please Please" was written 20 years ago. Things change.
