What do people say about your Moz obsession?

Re: What do your friends think about your obsession with Morrissey?

I asked this exact question, thats why its been moved here, thats all :)

Re: What do your friends think about your obsession with Morrissey?

Re: What do your friends think about your obsession with Morrissey?

peter i am not even going to acknowledge your pathetic comments in future. You clearly get some weird kick out of trying to wind people up on here, you sad little man.go and wank over a porno mag, if you havent done so already tonight :lbf:

Winding up? If that's what you think it is, it's obviously working, because once more you have sunk to base insults. One more comment like that and I'll push the button and ban you for insulting other members. In fact I have perfect grounds for doing it now.

My friend sent me a text yesterday: "Morrisy [sic] was on in the background of Eastenders and I thought of you!! I luv that song he's class" :blushing: Bless...

Who cares what other people think? Some people like Chris De Burgh but I am not going to berate them for it.Each to their own...

That's lovely - we all need more mates like this.

My partner was watching Eastenders the other night and heard it as well; she told me that his song was on, and then asked if I was going to go on line to tell my little friends on solo? We need fewer partners like this :(

It's difficult for me to answer this question because my friends know that in addition to my obsession with Morrissey I'm dealing with a whole different layer of crazy and the two combine together. They basically just roll their eyes.
mm-hmm, ditto

The thing about Morrissey's beauty and how he perceives it, I think, is that he sees himself as the most beautiful and the most hideous creature alive, all at once. What he never seems to understand is that his beauty isn't as wonderful as he thinks and his hideousness isn't as terrible as he thinks.

In a "toast to the groom" speech at my wedding reception my best friend said "Since (Boydelz) is now married he'll have to retire his Morrissey blow up doll." Nice burn on me there...
HAHAha:D

A guy at work likes The Smiths, but only recognizes Morrissey in that context. Someone who knows me from elsewhere flat out told me it's just that: an obsession. Only he spelled it "Morrisey" when telling me this. He is a fellow Irish Englishman from the north; he ought to know better.:p

My friends tend to tell me The Smiths would be good if Morrissey didn't open his mouth, and wonder why I like his singing/lyrics.

My friends and even my parents (sadly) tend to direct gay jokes at me for listening to Morrissey.

So ignorant...

I know a guy who generally has good taste in music but refuses to listen to The Smiths or Morrissey because "it's music for gay people". He also refuses to listen to The Libertines because "it's music for druggies"

Slightly funnier story actually...my friend who claims he is "a smiths and morrissey fan" said that his favourite smiths song was...wait for...

A TOWN CALLED MALICE

Oh dear. Great song, yes, but not by The Smiths. And it's so very different from their music, too! Much too happy-sounding to be sung by Morrissey :p

They don`t understand it, neither do I.

I`ve never been obsessed with anything or anyone in my life.

Then Mozza comes along and I`m hooked for life! What is it whith that guy?

Exactly! This whole Morrissey thing is way out of character for me, and it's been going on for far too long.

Just the other day a good friend was over at the house, and I showed her Morrissey's used water bottle from the Bowery show. :o She gave me a patient look and said "don't worry about it, we all have our irrational fixations." :blushing:

Cold comfort.

I just wanted to say hey! It's my first post :)

Two nights ago I saw Morrissey at Coachella - first time ever. I can't remember feeling that happy.... ever. I pushed my way to the very front of the crowd and I swear he was looking at me while singing "Ask"... probably because I looked like a maniac... :) haha.

I've been into The Smiths since I was 16 (I'm 20 now) and Morrissey has just grown on me more and more every day. My friends don't get it. My mom actually gets mad at me if I try to talk about him. What can I say - it's been a four-year long love affair and it's not stopping any time soon! :)

I said, jokingly, this morning that I should find something to listen to that wasn't The Smiths, because I have loads of music but have spent the past week listening only to The Smiths. My flatmate rather vehemently responded that I should find something else. I'm now listening to Hatful of Hollow ^.^ I don't listen to this album much, and every time I do listen to it I wonder why not, because I really quite like it.

I once only listened to Morrissey or the Smiths for a year straight. seriously, everyday, nothing cept Moz/Smiths. I would try to listen to another band but then get tired of them after 4 songs and want to put Morrissey back on. luckily no one else had to put up with it. I listened the Smiths tons in college and my roommates hated it, but it wasnt everyday. they wouldve murdered me in my sleep, I'm sure.

I've always been considered the "odd one" in the family, so all of my musical tastes are considered strange by my family. With friends, they just roll their eyes whenever I bring Moz up. But all of my friends have their own obsessions, so we've all learned to tolerate each others love for artists we may not care for.

I don't 'really' care what people think, but I am bemused when I get the raised eyebrow for 'obsessing' over Morrissey and its fine for my brother to 'obsess' over Michael Jackson. Fair dos.
I used to like U2 and Bryan Adams, and nobody said a thing. Now its all about Morrissey most people look at me like there's something wrong with me. Like I said I don't 'really' care, but frankly it bothers me.
