You Should Have Been Nice To Me

You could have told me
At the right time
You could have introduced me proudly
Never need to have to kiss me
Never need to ever touch me
But
You should have been nice to me
You should have been nice to me
It would have been so easy
And on the moments
When I was down
You could have been there
You could have been there
You could have once just spoke in favour
You'd never need to ever touch me
But
You should have been nice to me
You should have been nice to me
It wouldn't cost you money
And on the moments
When I fell down
Not for you to say 'oh I told you so'
You could have waited
You could have waited
You could have waited

Who do you think Morrissey is talking about in this song?

Personally I think this song is about a male-lover.

His male companion wouldn't introduce him nicely because people would ridicule them for a same-sex relationship.

Also, Morrissey really plays the feminine role in this song.

When I was down
You could have been there
You could have been there
You could have once just spoke in favour
You'd never need to ever touch me
But

Maybe his partner wanted to keep the relationship on the downlow and used Morrissey for sex.

Never need to have to kiss me
Never need to ever touch me
But
You should have been nice to me

I don't know, this is my interpretation.

how is that in any way feminine?

Why do you assume this song is autobiographical?

I'll go out on a limb here since I just watched the lamest movie ever called "Ladyhawke" but it probably relates. (Music can ruin a movie.)

It's about a curse put on Morrissey and his true love and when the nature of the curse becomes apparent, Morrissey gets mad/frustrated/angry/remorseful/agitated.

:straightface:Kind of tired of it.

And I feel like a lame-ass confessing that I watched Ladyhawke while Morrissey is using obscure Italian actors as backdrops.

No more bad dreams pls. Woke up to "that feeling."

I hate my life.
