I just heard the new song. Hmmm...it is the same sound since he left the verve. How to describe it? It sounds like the verve by numbers: big production, "cool" spacy guitars, depressed vocals. But the issue is it is soul music without soul, without excitement, without anything.

I disagree that all solo artists cannot have their own life. Morrissey and Weller have both created a nice sound for them, that harkens back to their past, without trying to recreate it.

Ashcroft could have been so huge. His songs always sound great on an acoustic guitar. But when he trys to "Verve" them, they suck.

Robbie williams would have done a better job with this song.

Yes RA has some good tunes...but is has terrible albums

robbie williams is for children with no taste - so where is the connection?
