Are The Smiths concerts worth seeing on TV or video? did anyone ever see them live?

incredible live performance is the key to morrissey and the smiths

grown men swirling daffodils,
skin heads embracing,
new lovers,
ruptured spleens on the barrier,
people leaving their bedrooms for the first and only time.
nose bleeds.
what else?
well,
morrissey and marr brought the balconies down in several venues,
i hear tell that some were so excited they fell from the stalls and smashed their legs.
everyone knows performing was what the smiths did best.

me?
well i only get such things 2nd time round.
re-heated smiths myths told around the gas fire,
becoming more and more unbelievable each time:

oh aye,the fantastic morrissey,
flying on his magical rug...

Of course they're worth it!

Do all you can to find live footage. Utterly fantastic. I watched the Hacienda '83 (?) show only last week and it made my knees wobble.

The Smiths - So now you know..

The Smiths live were an almost religious experience. Contrary to what people think it was not full of effeminate males quoting Oscar Wilde.
They were passionate, almost viloent affairs but full of love. One characteristic of a Smiths gig was assembling in the pub afterwards to compare the bruises! They were mystical nights and for days afterwards it was the biggest come-down ever!
What Marr and Morrissey had on stage was a chemistry that was beyons words.
The Smiths "gang mentatlity" was to the fore and on those heady nights they really were untouchable and the best band in the world.
Hope that gives you a little insight.
