If you could release one more single from each album...

Scorpion Kicker
...what would they be? You may include b-sides or even unreleased tracks from each session if you like. :)

My picks would be:

Smiths - Still Ill
Meat is Murder - I Want the One I Can't Have
The Queen is Dead - The Queen is Dead (edit)
Strangeways - I Won't Share You (I don't include Stop Me because, had the Hungerford massacre not taken place, it would have been released)

Viva Hate - I Don't Mind if You Forget Me
Kill Uncle - That's Entertainment (I know he never would but I think it would have gotten a lot of airplay)
Your Arsenal - You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side
Vauxhall and I - Billy Budd
Southpaw - Honey You Know Where to Find Me (didn't fit the album but would have been a great a-side to something)
Maladjusted - I Can Have Both
YATQ - I Like You
ROTT - If You Don't Like Me, Don't Look At Me*

*Hear me out on this. Most will say "Pigsty", but you just can't release a 7-minute single and the song would lose way too much if it were edited down to, say, even 4 minutes.

Last edited:
Smiths - "I Don't Owe You Anything"
MIM - "Meat Is Murder" (live version from the "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore"--far superior to the studio version)
QID - "Asleep"
Strangeways - "I Won't Share You," although the out-of-tune mandolin drives me nuts

VH - "Hairdresser on Fire"
KU - live "There's a Place in Hell" from KROQ
YA - "The National Front Disco"
VI - "Speedway"
Southpaw - "Nobody Loves Us"
Maladjusted - "The Edges Are No Longer Parallel"
YATQ - "I Like You"
ROTT - the first half of "Pigsty"; if that's unacceptable, then "No One Can Hold a Candle to You"

Can you tell that I'm a fan of live versions?

Most of these would be AWFUL singles. Just because Moz fans like most of these songs doesn't mean they'd make great singles. In fact, a few of these are hardly decent b-sides...

Well do you have any suggestions then?

honey you know where to find me a single?!?!?! It didnt even make it as a b-side

Some obvious suggestions, some laughable ones quite Frankly. I think some of you are mixing up good songs with good singles, they dont go hand in hand, I Wont Share you is a case in point.

Singles that Should have been...

I want the One...
There is a Light
Reader Meet Author
Stop me...
Half of the Viva Hate B-Sides
I Know Its Gonna Happen
Trouble Loves Me (Maybe a bit too Long tho)

I assume "The Youngest" is mixing this thread up with "Songs that you definatley wouldn't release as a single"

Sorry but c'mon!!

Honey You Know Where to Find Me was not on the album for two reasons:

1. All that exists is a demo, it was never recorded proper.
2. Much like "Swallow on My Neck," it was never intended to be released anyway. Both songs Moz deemed "too personal," but Swallow was released anyway on the "Sunny' single because EMI released it around the time that Southpaw was released on RCA. I don't think that Morrissey had any say in the matter.

I think that Honey is a great song. Short, sharp pop, would have made a MUCH better single than, say, Dagenham Dave in my opinion.

Nope, they're some of my favourite Morrissey/Smiths songs.

At least I didn't put the "not-even-worthy-of-z-side Sweetie-Pie". I hate that song. It should have never been released.

a song was too personal for release??

on that basis Morrissey would never have released half of his back catalogue.

Southpaw - "Nobody Loves Us" (WHY THE HELL DID THIS NOT MAKE THE ALBUM?!?!?!)
Maladjusted - "Lost"
YATQ - "Don't Make Fun of Daddy's Voice"
ROTT - "Life Is A Pigsty"

I believe (and i'm not 100% on this) that Mr. Reynolds was the first to post Honey a long time ago and was asked to remove it by someone from Morrissey's camp for "personal reasons." My guess is that it is probably his most personal "Jake" song and just didn't want it getting out.

I have an instrumental version...is the vocal version no longer be circulated due to that?
