The single was awful. Really bad.

What else would you say on a Morrissey site?

I believe those who like Johnny, rather enjoyed the single.

This site is hardly 'neutral ground', is it?

Good point. I think there are two interesting things points, though:

1. We have the same overwhelmingly high expectations for Johnny's output as we do Morrissey's.

2. The single made Johnny sound terrible in comparison to Alain and Boz!

And THAT is really saying something

Morrissey fans still feel bitter about Johnny quitting the Smiths, which is a shame. I believe that Johnny's fans aren't as 'anal, for want of a better word, as Morrissey fans.

Johnny is a cracking guitarist. The difference between Johnny, Alain & Boz, is that Johnny doesn't have to please anyone but himself. Alain & Boz have one of the pickiest people in the universe, to keep happy. Johnny plays what makes 'Johnny' happy. Boz & Alain do not have that luxury.

The first Healers single was ok. Not fantastic, but I think you'll get a pleasant surprise when you hear the Healers album. I'm not really a fan of Johnny's voice though, I have to admit that. His lyrics aren't really up to much either, come to think of it:)

I love Johnny Marr but this is just a BAD single.
