Reading / Leeds Rumor

This is a rumur I heard from someone one in Camp Moz who wishes to remain anonymous. I can't confirm any of it as true. It is, however, worth noting especially since so many people (including me) travelled so far to Benicassim. So before you head out to Reading / Leeds heed the warning.

The Benicassim Festival cancellation was not due to technical difficulties with the plane.

Moz did not have a good experience at this year's Glastonbury and is very reluctant to do any more festival shows.

"I wouldn't bother buying tickets to Reading or Leads." The implication here being that he is going to pull out of those shows as well.

Perth, Paisley, Blackpool and Bridlington are safe. These shows will go ahead as planned.

for gods sake i hope that's not true, this is the only gig i can bloody get to.

If that's true why did he do Move and the other festivals in Europe?

It's bollocks. Errr... didn't Moz play quite a few festivals post-Glastonbury and these got a great response?!!

Whats the fanbase scale at these festival shows like for him? people i know(who haven't really appreciated moz - don't ask i don't even know why) moan about having to stand through him groaning depressingly in a microphone (?&*(^&5!!)....

From what I saw on television he seemed to get a good response at Glasto, albeit nowhere near the response Muse got as headliners. Maybe the billing is an issue...

I know that Move was technically a festival date, but in reality it was like an outdoor Moz headline show...and with it being in Manchester he was always going to get a great response.

I don't know how the other European festivals went, but from reading some of the reviews it doesn't seem as if he was getting much of a reaction (although when you look at how stationary the other band members were when they played at glasto, it's hardly surprising...)

I knew this would happen

I predicted that he would play Reading and pull out of Leeds but this news doesn't suprise me.
I'd much sooner see him in a venue than a festival.

Re: I knew this would happen

Move aside, Moz would have been much better off ditching the festival itinerary and playing a full UK tour of 10 dates or so and then moving onto Europe the US and other parts of the globe...rather than jetting around from UK to Europe to US and back and forth...

I've been very loyal for over a decade, but over the last couple of months Morrissey (or perhaps his management) have been more frustrating than when he didn't have a record deal!

OK...so Morrissey had plenty of time to cancel Beniccasim, even after playing several festivals after Glastonbury with no perceived problems, but instead decided to round his band up when they could have been doing other things, pay money to send his equipment on ahead, and pretend like his plane had engine trouble....

and despite his new found hatred for festivals, less than a week later he opts to schedule an appearance at festival in San Francisco, even knowing full well that he has decided that he hates festivals and doesn't want to play at any of them, but doesn't seem to care that many fans will pay money for the tickets, airfare, and hotel just to get there before he cancels.

am i leaving anything else out?

I think he just hates not headlining them. In SF he's headlining, no?

clarification

I'd just like to clarify that this story was quoted directly from Morrissey-Tour.com.

Please sue them, not me.

Seems he has taken a disliking to festivals, but I can't see him pulling out of the Carling Weekend as he shares a bill with Franz Ferdinand, The Libertines and The New York Dolls whose appearance he is pretty much responsible for...

> I was at benicassim and i can confirm that Mozza was present at the festival
on Friday night.
He in fact played a private set in the VIP area overheard by myself and a few hundred other festi goers.
So whatever the reason he didnt play, it was not due to technical problems.
My guess is that he got twatted along with lou reid, aurther Lee and Brian Wilson
and was in no state to play.

Anybody else who was there will confirm the same.

cheers

Re: What about Edinburgh, is that not safe?

Edinburgh is fine, all Scottish City Centers are safe, Scotland gets soo much bad press for being rough, bollocks, every city has is bad parts.
