7 years wait, a few good songs on the album but I'm pretty disappointed with the album to be honest. Not a patch on Your Arsenal.

I cant believe Morrissey thinks this is his best ever album!! (quote from JR show on Friday.

Before you start on me I'm 30, I've seen the Smiths and I've bought everything the man has ever done and been to all the tours.

Hopefully its a kill uncle part 2! ok album, great live!

cant wait until sat!

Really?

Am I the only one who thinks it's one of his best solo efforts? Vauxhall and I will always be my favourite, but in my opinion YATQ is a very close second.

Sorry, I've bought Snow Patrol, Keane and The Streets albums this week, I was more impressed with them that our Moz.

No need to be sorry, that's your opinion! I am just concerned because (at least on this message board) it seems as though I am of the minority in saying that I absolutely adore YATQ, and I cannot understand why that is, because I think it is a fantastic album.

Have fun at the show (I'm so jealous!).

I think it's great.

The Snow Patrol and Keane albums are so small, if you know what I mean.

I like both albums but I don't feel as though I've had an experience, or anything approaching an experience, when the last track finishes.

tony - maybe the problem is

That you're getting on in life and don't have any passion left for music?

It's interesting that many of the older generation of Morrissey fans who loved the Smiths can't seem to get his new material.

Perhaps the mortgages, remortgages and 9-5 job have sucked the life out of them all.

That's a bit unnecessary!!!!!

Morrissey's basic themes haven't changed but his style of illustrating those themes has. I think some fans have been mostly attracted to the stylistic qualities so feel rather bereft that he's decided to abandon the 'realistic' small scale etchings of yore in favour of larger, more abstract, canvases. They'd rather he found different things to paint but keep using the old techniques.

The theme of Still Ill is the futility of trying to hold on to a feeling that has gone but if you liked it because it made you think of the iron bridge just down the road then a lot of Morrissey's solo work is going to seem less relevant to your life. If you're the sort, like me, who still gets all tied into knots every time you feel things slipping away from you then Morrissey is still your man.

That's my theory anyway, and I'm sticking to it.

Re: tony - maybe the problem is

To me, "the Palms" could be compared to "the iron bridge," "Hector" could easily be "William," and "cold blue eyes" could just as well be the old dear he chose to put on the guillotine all those years ago. "Let Me Kiss You" is one of those strange, out-of-kilter longing/lust songs he's done so beautifully over the years.

I'm not sure things have changed *all* that much you know. It may be less specific to the industrial northern cities of England, but the themes are quite similar really.

Perhaps they've changed more than morrissey has

If by "they" you mean disillusioned fans then I'd say they only think they've changed.

Most of us are still seven years old inside.

Re: tony - maybe the problem is

You think you are, but you're not really

The flame may just have... gone out.

I agree Ann - Quarry is brilliant

The fact that Tony actually likes the streets proves he has no taste whatsoever.

He may as well have said, "Justin Timberlake's album is much more impressive" - because that's where the Streets rank.

Oooooh, deep, man.

Re: tony - maybe the problem is

The defence mechanism is an ominous sign.

Of what?

I was only attempting to suggest, in my own feeble way, that we're both being a tad arsey.
