Hi Hugh
thanks for your text, Ive got a new phone and I'm not familiar with it yet!

Yeh, we were about to start on the concert hall roof and the roof of the boxing gym, but when the roofing team went up to start they discovered the chanels either side of the main gym had been stripped overnight, so the rain just pours in. The scaffolding was caged in up to the second level so we thought it was safe, but they must have climbed the tree and got across, gymnasts or what!

Its just made a dream go a bit sour, we wanted this to be the start of the restoration, getting it waterproof in the next 4 weeks, for the first time in years. We could then start work to improve the boxing gym and the kitchen, essential faciliites.

Most of the club is OK, but the water has come through 2 floors. Its about waiting for the rooms to dry out, which they will, its brought down some plasterwork. We now needs security every night for a month which is a big extra bill.

The gulleys where the lead was will be replaced during the roof work, but again we need to wait until its dry. The insurance on our building is already high with it being listed so to claim would push up our premium for years to come so its a difficult balance, as we have a clean no claims state at the moment.

We will just have to use some more of the funding we have brought in. Its a set back, but everybody here has survived a few of those.

I've got some fundraising ideas for the future, which will now have to be fast tracked, so i'll keep you informed.

Whats the Morrisey line? The rain falls down on the humdrum town?

Leslie
