You know my wife is pretty good on the hall passes sometimes. I had some friends invite me up to the city for lunch. We went to north beach (I love this area). Found an Italian place, go figure, and had a wonderful lunch.
I joked how messy we had been while eating. The table and floor looked horrible. My friend deadpans perfectly and says, "don't worry, I'll be your pillar of strength in this hurricane of chaos". I almost fell to the floor laughing with his witty ribbing. This dude has always been a riot to hang with.
But the reality is, it is true. We all need that pillar sometimes and we have a responsibility to be one ourselves to the people who we care about. Over the years, I have relied on these guys and vice versa. As snarky as he said it, he did really mean it.
After, we walked down Columbus. We saw a Italian bakery. I could not resist. They had cannoli's but I had a to die for bear claw.
