Action Man?

I Know It's Over...
With such a strangely obvious title for a Morrissey song, I wonder if there is any chance Morrissey would write a tune for a James Bond movie? Daniel Craig's portrayal of 007 certainly brought legitimacy back to the franchise. Writing the theme song to the upcoming movie would do nothing but help move albums (I mean it couldn't hurt, could it?).

What would your reaction be? Major saleout, smart business move, it has come to this???

action man, action man, he does whatever an an action man can...

P.S. I remember Pulp thought they had the theme song all sewn up when at the last minute the producers opted for, Sheryl Crow I believe. Consequently, Pulp's "Tomorrow Never Dies" was quickly re-titled and released as a b-side: "Tomorrow Never Lies."

See I'm thinking David Bowie reference...namely referencing the 1980 hit Ashes to Ashes "We got a message from the Action Man". But I could be off base as well.

Definitely not.

The producers of 007 films are very narrow-minded.
Pulp wrote a really good song, but they decided to use Sheryl Crowe's song instead.

Please. You're probably much closer to the truth than I, I just had this tangential thought which I'm curious to learn what Morrissey fans would think?

Well, I believe the original producers are all dead. Hence the transformative screenplay and actor selection for "Casino Royale." I would never ask this question prior to "Casino Royale;" however I think the franchise is interesting again and very English.

Yeah I dont know...this will sound weird but I always thought You're Gonna Need Someone on Your Side would make a good James Bond theme...I'm probably insane in thinking that

As long as it was a good song I wouldn't mind.

The name itself kinda reminds me of James Bond now that I look at it, :D

Guys,

I am a bond nut so I will fill you in.

Cubby Broccoli's daughter now runs the show with Michael Wilson who is Cubby's step son. Wilson has been on the team from way back but his daughter started producing when her father died and this was right around the time when the bond movies started to suck. (exhibit A, Golden eye)

I don't blame Brosnan at all but the 2 writers they hired to do Golden eye right up till Die another day were terrible and when the producer's decided to do Casino as the next film there was a concerted effort to remove them and replace them with Paul Haggis who wrote Million dollar baby and he did an awesome job!

Going just a little further back it was originally Quentin Tarantino's idea to do Casino and he and Brosnan came to the producers with the idea but they already had plans to "eject" Brosnan so it was canned for a while.

David Arnold who has written the music since Tomorrow never dies seems to have some control other than when the producer's insisting on Madonna which he publicly hated and said so about the song on many occasions.

The last song was his idea and Chris Cornell rocked it!

My brother who is not exactly a Moz fan said to me he would do a great job and I agree. Listen to the riff for Irish blood, English heart (chorus) and it is very Bond like.

hope that wasn't too boring :D:rolleyes:

No, that post was awesome! Thanks for info. I agree with your take on Brosnan. He was a good James Bond, but given terrible scripts. Just watch him in "The Tailor of Panama" or a ton of other similar flicks and Brosnan can definitively play Bond. I gave up on the Bond series and actually turned off the film that had the Madonna theme song mid way through. It was absolutely ridicolous and everything the Austin Powers movies lampooned.

The new team is a delight, and I truly hope they keep the screenwriter.

I think "Je Suis James Bond," might be a good name for a Mozzer related 007 single!

I'd be so thrilled if Morrissey sang a song for a movie... I'm so F%&&$· fed up with David Bowie's songs and references in 4 out of 5 movies I go to see... I'm really tired of it.. I crave for a Moz reference or song... And if it was for the next James Bond, it would be even better because they're shooting right now here in Chile... Actually Daniel Craig is about to arrive tonight or tomorrow here, in the north part of th country.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Glad to hear the new movie is being shot. I'm certainly back into the series after "Casino Royale."

Seems like no one would have a big problem if Morrissey were to write a track for Bond flick, except maybe Morrissey!:)
