Alain Whyte and band mini Ireland tour (August 21, 2023)

The BIG news is here and we're so excited to finally share it with you. We will be playing some very select live shows later this year in the following cities/venues:

29 November - Belfast, Northern Ireland (Ulster Sports Club)
1 December - Cork, Ireland (The Pavilion)
2 December - Dublin, Ireland (Whelans)

The gigs will feature my band of all-stars most of you already know and love:

Craig Gannon - guitars
Gary Day - bass
Spencer Cobrin - drums
Gustavo Manzur, Jr. - keyboards

We'll be playing sets filled will songs we've all been involved in (either written, co-written and/or played on) as well as a surprise or two each night which you won't want to miss.

Tickets go on sale this Friday (25 August at 10am GMT) via AlainWhyteMusic.com/tour & Eventbrite.ie

More info will follow, so please stay tuned. We really can't wait to play for you all!

No one can argue that this is not a fantastic lineup with ace players on all sides. The setlists are going to be full of stuff we all wish Morrissey would play. What a fantastic gesture it would be if he joined them on stage as a surprise guest in, say, Dublin. Sang NMHIF and LIAP, shook a few hands and just drifted away off the stage. No drama, no bullshit, just some generosity towards friends and fans.

Maybe they can play I am Veronica and Miley can pop on stage to sing back up

I was also thinking that if they chose to play Morrissey Band material, they could choose only Alain and Gustavo's material and make adjustments to them. Add/remove parts, music or lyrics.
Any new lyrics Alain might come up with for 'Notre Dame' would surely be an improvement! ;)

They are better than New Order.

Never thought I would say this but yes he is nowadays. Going to see both later this year and with Hooky you get the passion, the grit and the sweat, whereas New Order are too polished nowadays and it’s A bit like painting by numbers. If their O2 set list is virtually the same as in 2021, then this will be the last time I see them unless they release a new album.

I agree with the comparisons to Peter Hook, hope it goes as well for them as it has for Hooky, who started playing to 300 ish people when he began with the JD stuff and now fills Manchester and Hammersmith Apollo.

Yeah I'm booked in to see the Substance tour, he is in NZ mid-next year. Really buzzed about seeing it.

Yes, same tour but in Wolverhampton.
To hear that album played through from start to finish, especially by such a tight unit is a wet dream. I imagine I'll be transported straight back to 1987.

He really has earned the right to call his band New Order. Or at the very least can call themselves Joy Division. The current New Order play these songs with a tenth of the passion as Hooky & Co.

By the way folks, is it just me or does Alain look incredibly healthy and well rested?

Alain is still on good terms with Morrissey, he spoke why he didn't got further on tour with Morrissey.

Enjoy the gigs in Ireland and come to Europe. Whyteside Forever.

That’s what I said, lack of respect. Not on Morrissey’s part.

He always looks tops IMO. Would love to have a beer with him.

Morrissey is not the reason, or was...but the man couldn't get easily moved, contract...so I give away more than I wanted...Morrissey's downfall in musicbusiness [releases, record deal] is no one else to blame than Morrissey himself, thought he had credits enough to say what he want, or do...now is Morrissey touring to hope to to make some $$$$$$, or could lose, it's Morrissey self who arranges everything, ... was is ever different? 58 yr and still my hope and heart

I’ve seen Peter Hook a few times. The latter experiences were much better than my one New Order concert. And taking ticket prices and venues into account it would take Hooky stopping for me to shell out for another extortionate and (as you say) ‘polished’ New Order night.

You can see that Peter Hook gets nervous and excited. And it’s so much more engaging than the others, doing their best Kraftwerk impressions.
