"Spent The Day In Bed" - enters UK top 40 (airplay)

UPDATE 13TH OCTOBER - the song is now in the Airplay Top 30 (at #29)

'Spent the Day in Bed' has climbed 279 places up the UK airplay chart to 34 over the last week (Oct 5th to 11th). His first UK top 40 since 'I'm throwing my arms around Paris'. This rapid ascent is due to the Radio 2 A-list to which it was added this week. It's a rolling chart so the song will probably continue to climb until Saturday. It may boost the single's position a little in the actual chart but the airplay mainly acts as an advert for the album. As mentioned before, this would normally all be timed to happen a week or two before the album comes out so it's odd that there's a month to go - maybe there will be another song released between now and then.

Why must young people fall in love due to presidential failings?

It is about politics having no power over people in the end and that love consumes people more than any president ever will. A president can rule for a few years but people are occupied with their own problems no matter what happens in the world of politics.

If you never paid any attention to politics you would still live your life and chances are you would be much happier.

Rich people rarely watch any tv and if they own one it is tucked away in a small room they rarely visit. Maybe that explains why they made it, not the content on tv but the time and energy they spent on themselves and their life.

LOL

As if the radio would ever play any of his songs. I suspect there's even a bigger chance they will play your banjo music first before that ever happens.

But... it’s A-listed on Radio 2, hence the accession up the charts. So, what your saying is redundant

Carry on with your fantasies.

The song is being played on Radio 2 because he is tied to a 'traditional record company' who are in a mutual death-dance with 'traditional radio' in trying to dictate to the public what they should listen to. However, their views are irrelevant. The fact is that this song is free to Spotify listeners who are ignoring it with a passion. Once again, there is no sign of it in the UK Spotify Top 200. People all over the country are hearing it on Radio 2 then ignoring it, never bothering to listen to it again.

Fake news. Fake chart. This single has corpsed. Big time. It's a complete and absolute failure. Deal with it.

That's great that its moving up but it's already been number 35 ok the U.K. iTunes chart the week it was released

Any reason is good enough. That's why he sings presidents come and presidents go. The only thing is, a president stays for 4 or 8 years and after that you might feel not young anymore.
I've aged a month per week since Cheeto Mussolini and Captain Cockwomble took over. It's exhausting.

NEWS FLASH

What I say is ALWAYS redundant. People today listen to commercial radio channels when they drive their car and they will not listen to a miserable fat expat singing about issues he should have dealt with when 25.

Goodbye!

Ha ha ha ha ha lmao :rofl:

He's spent the last three years telling us that Morrissey is no longer relevant and will never get another deal with a major...and now he contrives a label for the self-same evil 'traditional record companies' now that one of them has signed M.

Because his lyrics these days are the drunken ramblings of a madman. He has become the Donald Trump of the music industry.

Can’t you see?

Welcome back, however, you are totally wrong. Because Morrissey is neither drunk nor mad. And also when providing a comparison to Donald Trumpf - when the entire world is suffering the fall out from THAT piece of plankton - well that comment alone takes the biscuit and wins you the aware for Idiot Of The Week, from the other suspects. Idiot.

Radio 2 is the most popular station in the UK - it's also the most popular station in Europe. And they've put the new Morrissey single on their A-list! That's for this current week, and they've also just announced it will stay on there next week too. The R2 playlist has a pretty small impact on singles sales but a huge impact on album sales. The most recent Blondie and James albums were their most successful for 20 years due to the Radio 2 A list exposure. It's about the best advert that an album can get. This means the first week UK sales for the new album will probably exceed 30,000 - from memory World Peace shifted just under 20,000 in Week 1 (Istanbul had very little airplay). So that's the difference it makes. However, if the album does do very badly in week 1, you will be proved right - people will have heard the song but decided against buying the album. If it does well, you will be proved wrong, and it will be your turn to 'deal with it'.

1. BBC Radio Play:
Well, just for information.... BBC Radio2 did play Morrissey at 03:15 am yesterday evening/morning. It was
tremendous. 12th October 2017.

2. Major Label:
And for the avoidence of doubt - basically because these fools DID, when they should have/could have/ SHUT up - Morrissey is currently working with BMG and doing a rather excellent job. BMG are a Major Label.
To all of the people who DID and now look totally foolish - as a minimum - here's a salute just for you > > x

oh Eric have a heart, man.

Well deserved! We listen to absolute radio at work and it’s played daily. I’ll be honest and admit I didn’t like it at first, but it’s. grower.

a person can't turn into donald trump type over night, he/she has to be born like that.

say it clear - you don't believe him anymore (and you're not to blame).
I DO!

being faithfully unbroken equivocal disobedient he's been gradually and successfully marginalized by machinery of contemporary music industry and - you're the victim and a proof of its harmful mechanism.

it's not your fault for being successfully deceived.

his lyrical style evolved and changed through years, as failures and mistakes are parts of everybody's life/work, so i don't see why poets/artists must be exception.

you lost faith in morrissey but keep the faith in yourself, i enjoy every your comment :)

Why do you come here? It seems like you hate everything related to Morrissey. I don't get people sometimes...
