Why does he need a label? Artists can release their own music, even on things such as bandcamp where most of the revenue goes directly in the hands of the artist. I understand he is old but the fans are dying for BoT to be released, I know I am.

"I need to move some tickets for two shows that are selling horribly, let me play a boring new song... that'll do it!"

Is Sure Enough the Telephone Rings about the Capitol records situation? "Who wants my money now?" or their money as they have put it?
Given it was written and recorded before he signed with Capitol… no

Would I Am Veronica be fatally diminished by removing Miley? Probably not. It’s not a duet, is it?

Bobby without Thelma wouldn’t work, but My Love Life without Chrissie probably would.
I was privy to hearing a snippet or so of the studio version early on and my immediate reaction was that Miley’s vocals added nothing to the song. Nothing against her… I felt it was the production, but I think I said something like “it sounds like it was recorded underwater. Like something that should be in The Little Mermaid”. My opinion at the time was that Moz’s voice is strong enough and could have perfectly handled the song without the BV’s being what seemed to be shoehorned in (which as we’re now finding was just as much done for name recognition as anything). His voice is as strong as it’s ever been and he’s singing as well as ever. Ironically, he didn’t need her vocals and the song would have been better (imo) without them… AND we may not be facing a future where we still have no idea when we’ll hear the full record. Oh, well.

There are versions of this where he adds "in a way" which does soften it a bit. I have just spent five minutes searching for it, five minutes of my life that I won't get back.
Ah well we've all spent five minutes looking for our phones only to find that, sure enough, it still doesn't ring.

Is this the snippet you’re taking about ? I agree with the production style, it’s not to my taste either

I wonder if Rebel Withour Applause will be on there and, if so, whether it will be the same mix. I think the song is great but the production was poor in my opinion. Morrissey doesn't need autotune, you could hear the artifacts at times. It just sounds too digital.

No, it's just about a rich lonely man being phoned only by call center people.

Enjoyable interview, Morrissey funny and fairly chatty. Absolutely hate sure enough though…pile of crap. I do like Veronica, but they could easily sub Miley for someone else. He just wants it to be her to attract a new audience.

This is how I felt about Ringleader, that it was recorded underwater. Took a while for that album to grow on me... fear BOT will be similar to ROTT in that regards

I actually don’t mind the music or the lyrics, but the meaning behind the song is lost on me. I’m not sure why he thinks young people live in hell because of smartphones. Does he know they have an on/off button, and a silence button? You can even put them on “Do Not Disturb” mode. As long as kids have balance and face to face socialisation, I don’t see the problem. Kids being glued to their smartphones might seem strange to the rest of us and unsociable, but most teenagers seem quite happy in their own world. We might have to rename this album My Elderly Grandad Years.

i use the "old tele" ringtone...i notice many use that, or the default instead of song clips which ironically older folk tend to use

I end today with a better feeling about Morrissey's situation than I had this morning. His acknowledgement of a buyback being possible (even likely?) is heartening.

Moz looked good, came off as odd and witty as ever. Didn't say anything to rile up the usual critics. It was a good day. I want more good days. Cautious optimism is all I have to go on.

🤞Hoping nothing too provocative is played or said to an early morning audience.
🎼Notre-Dame, we know who tried to kill you...🎶
Might be a bit much over their Cornflakes.
Witty, upbeat interview and WMTWD performed with release date - too much to ask I'm sure.
Regards,
FWD.
that would've been more interesting than the Telephone song, as bad as that one is, at least it was memorable.

the interview was nice.

No, but it’s the same version. It’s all personal preference and subjective, of course. It’s just metallic sounding to me. I’ll never believe it sounds “better” with the bv’s and takes away from just how good his voice is.

Do all the songs on the album have that certain sound to them? Or have you only heard a snippet of Veronica?
