In addition to the "gothic romance" classification discussed upthread, Amazon Japan includes List of the Lost in the "Coming of Age" and "Fantasy, Futuristic & Ghosts" categories. Link.

This book keeps getting more intriguing.

The "gothic romance" description and mention of ghosts brings to mind the Moors car ride episode in 'Autobiography.' It felt like the most "novelistic" section of the book.

And, if the book is truly only 128 pages, I think it would be a dreadful waste if Morrissey himself did not read the audiobook. I think he missed out on a cross-media sales opportunity in not reading the autobiography.

At first glance the category "gothic romance" appears quite strange for a Morrissey novel, especially with those horrible books which are listed beside List Of The Lost on amazon, but if you look into the history of gothic fiction you will find writers such as Emily Bronte, Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker, Percy Shelley, Mary Shelley, Lord Byron, Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde, Robert L. Stevenson, Henry James etc. Actually, it fits very well.
