First, a little about the man:
Daniel Johnston is a mentally ill, lo-fi, troubadour who began issueing homemade, straight to boom box, recordings in the mid-eighties -- passing them out to friends and pretty girls. His first exposure was a brief spot on MTV's The Cutting Edge in an episode dedicated to Austin musicians. Johnston's illness and erratic behavior coupled with an obvious musical talent, generated an underground buzz, earning him the admiration of artists' such as Kurt Cobain, who later appeared at the '92 MTV Music Awards clad in a Johnston t-shirt. Currently, he remains under the care of his parents, spending the day making music, drawing comic-book superheroes and chain-smoking menthols.

You can read more about him here:

Okay, so I was winnowing through some of Johnston's early recordings (mostly crap) and came upon this piognant little gem; the song is from the 1983 cassette "The What of Whom". Enjoy!
