Morrissey claims sex assault by security at US airport - BBC News

He added that the arrival of a second person to screen Morrissey was normal, and helped "to ensure the passenger does not have threat items, such as explosives concealed under clothing."

San Francisco International Airport
- true-to-you.net
29 July 2015

On leaving the US on 27 July I flew from San Francisco International Airport to London on flight BA 284.

At 2:30 in the afternoon I went through the usual airport security procedure including the stand-up 'scanner', and all was well - no bleeps and nothing unusual.

Before I could gather my belongings from the usual array of trays I was approached by an "airport security officer" who stopped me, crouched before me and groped my penis and testicles. He quickly moved away as an older "airport security officer" approached.

The officer who sexually assaulted me was identified as the General Manager On Duty. Luckily I was accompanied by two members of British Airways Special Services, who were horrified at the sexual attack and suggested that I lodge a complaint. I asked if there would be any point in lodging a complaint since, as with any complaint against a figure in "authority", the complaints are simply collected in order to protect the guilty officer should the matter go further. The British Airways Special Services employees assured me that a complaint was worthwhile, and so I filed the appropriate information. However, before doing so, the guilty "officer" was confronted, and the conversation went thus:

You have just sexually groped this man.
Officer: That's just your opinion.
What you have done is illegal.
Officer: That's just your opinion.
You have no right to do what you have just done.
Officer: That's just your opinion.

Apart from "that's just your opinion", he would not comment, even though, since the penis and testicles were mine and no one else's, then my opinion must surely have some meaning. But, of course, what the airport security officer was saying was: your opinion will never count in the eyes of the law. The words "that's just your opinion" volunteered themselves from this 'officer's' mouth before he had even heard the question. He knew he could be confronted, but he also knew that he could never be challenged (even though the entire incident is most certainly on CCTV camera).

In the interests of imperishable bureaucracy my submitted complaint against this 'officer' will obviously be either unread or ignored because, as we all know, on matters of officialism it is not possible to be pleasantly surprised by anything at all. However, what is clear is that, should you find yourself traveling through San Francisco International Airport, you should expect sexual abuse from the so-called 'security officers' who, we are unconvincingly warned, are acting only for our security.

Do people have minds?

What a disgustingly racist, ignorant thing to say. Pretty standard here at SOLOW. May you get hit by a bus today, the world doesn't need you. It definitely doesn't.

Thank you. My point exactly.

Death to the white man. Slash their mouths. Bind and torture. Rape.

Eliminate.

I find it amusing, but also ironic, that it is acceptable to use "white" as a pejorative. What if a black man did something silly and I said "oh, the stupid black man!"? I would be immediately and viciously attacked as a racist.

Now, if a white man did the exact same silly thing and I said "oh, the stupid white man!" it would be considered fashionable! Yes indeed.

Society is so full of double standards right now. The evidence is all around us that despite claims of equality, people much prefer the "two wrongs" approach. Berating men does not create equality for all. Berating whites does not create equality for all. It is a move to ironically do exactly what the white man has been castigated for -- assuming superiority and belittling others.

It is also fashionable to belittle "straight people" and their "ways" by the "gay" subset of the homosexual population. Now, if I said "oh, that silly gay man, he is such a fool for parading around in the streets nude and drunk!" I would be immediately and viciously attacked as a homophobe. But if I say "oh, that silly ignorant straight f***er, he is such a fool for parading around the streets celebrating his sports team's cup win!" I would get a round of chuckles and nods. Enter heterophobia. This is reality. It is actually happening.

This is not equality.

As far as I'm concerned, joking is fine. I don't get offended if people want to make a joke about "white people" or "men" or anything else. When people mock Irish or Scottish people and their accents, I am not offended. In fact, I find imitating accents fun and amusing. But if I imitate a Pakistani accent, somehow I am hateful and violating the Human Rights Code.

Double standards are everywhere.

This is not equality.

Of course, people will call me a miserable, old, white, racist, sexist, homophobic moron for having such views to the aim of true equality and without even knowing the colour of my skin, my sexual orientation, or any other personal detail. But of course, belittling the presumed "white, male, heterosexual" is a game now. It is common, fashionable, and widely acceptaed. Wait, racism, sexism, and heterophobia are... right? Ah.

Ignorance is also everywhere.

Got any empirical evidence to back up this nonsense? If so, this might be the time to provide links, cos at the moment, you're making yourself sound like a moron.

Is "Empirical Evidence" a new phrase you wanted to take for a spin today? Test it out? Because he just described the basic conundrum of the state of political correct double standard modifiers, he wasn't trying to prove that Colonal Mustard did it in the Conservatory with the Candle Stick.

Apparently, what he's "just described" is a figment of his imagination. That is, unless he's got some pretty persuasive facts to share with the rest of us.

He's sharing his opinion? :squiffy: What is he supposed to prove? Now if he said "It's been scientifically proven that I would be viciously attacked as a racist if I said 'silly black man," then he'd have to "prove" it. He never made any claims in all the paragraphs that required proof, they were his opinions.

Everyone deducing Morrissey's groping down to RACE needs to STFU and watch this video. You're literally being trained and have been your whole lives to make any topical issue a RACE issue. He got groped, he felt violated, he spoke out about it because the whole thing made him uncomfortable AS HE SHOULD, end of story. Derailing the argument to race is a waste of time.

I'm not joking this is worth 10 minutes of your life.

Thanks for writing out a proper response.

I agree that women are oppressed in many primitive nations. It is disgusting. I often imagine that some of the young women from those nations who immigrate to Western countries see women in positions of authority and must be in awe, for it really is insane the way women (and other people such as homosexuals) are regarded and treated in primitive nations.

Unfortunately, those nations are entitled to have their own culture, religion, and laws. The women who are able to escape and immigrate to a civilized nation like the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Australia, Germany etc. are entering a safe place of refuge where not only women are on their side but MEN are largely sickened by the way they are regarded and treated in their own country and feel just as strongly about their rights as human beings as Western women do. Western men should not be labeled as part of the problem, for they are largely not.

Unfortunately, feminism automatically shuns men. These modern men are, as human beings, just as concerned with human rights as women. Western society does not need feminism to make the issue an "us versus them" between women and men. It is not an "us versus them" between women and men, it should be an "us versus them" between the collective men and women who stand together for human rights in opposition to the oppressors who are preventing certain groups from obtaining human rights.

It is about coming together as humans. Black, white, yellow, purple, male, female, heterosexual, homosexual -- these are all irrelevant in Western society among the intelligent majority. Of course we have men who hate women (and women who hate men). We have racists in the Western world. We have people who would burn homosexuals alive if they could. But those are minorities and they do not ultimately matter in the majority realm unless you allow them to enter.

In primitive nations, the majority realm is run by sexist and racist oppressors. We need everyone to band together in order to combat oppression. It is not a women's fight. It is not a black man's fight. It is not a homosexual's fight. In fact it isn't a fight at all. It is a joining together of HUMANS -- men and women together -- to acknowledge that oppression is not acceptable and that everyone deserves equal status and equal rights. We have come so far in the Western world. To advocate for splitting ourselves down the middle based on gender is not viable in 2015. Feminism had a place in the last century when women in Western society needed to bring about certain eventualities. It has served its purpose. We have evolved and have moved on to common methods, the achievement of equal HUMAN rights as a joined people, not a split people. Yes, society is not perfect and there will always be splits. Gender splits. Colour splits. But we should not be advocating for these splits. We should be working against them to mend the seams and stay together.

primitive nations? wtf? what nations would that be?

You're right, though: he doesn't have to prove anything. He's entitled both to have an opinion and to express that opinion, but other people are equally entitled to say that he's talking shit - particularly because he makes no effort at all to back up his claims.

How did race enter the picture? Morrissey was groped because the TSA sexually assaults people for a living, not because he's a white guy. They equal-opportunity-assault across race, gender, and class. Google "TSA sexual assault." It's well-documented, just another day at the office, which former TSA staff admit to.

A likelier reason is that Morrissey cancelled on SF so many times, didn't schedule a makeup date this last time around, and the uniformed toad was a fan who figured it was his one chance to grope the Moz jewels, or a disgruntled ex-fan who wanted to pay him back for the cancellations. Not saying this is definitely why or that it's OK, but this is much more feasible than the race angle.

White guys -- the ones who benefit from white, male privilege -- claiming they're oppressed by minorities and women is as ridiculous as privileged Christians in America claiming that liberals and gays are taking their religious rights away. They're looking for reasons to be offended and they've got too much free time and/or emotional problems so they dream this stuff up.

Today, the most discriminated-against group in society is white, heterosexual, middle-class men. It definitely is.

You rang? I meet all three of these qualifications. What we need is a white, middle-class, heterosexual parade! Oh wait, that's kinda gay. ;)

One would be immediately and viciously attacked for parading around because one is a proud heterosexual. It would be absolutely obscene and surely it could only be meant as a mocking or threatening gesture to homosexuals.

Hmm... You know, that really gets you thinking (ie. what purpose do homosexual "pride" parades truly serve?).

Theoretically, accepting the validity of homosexual "pride" parades and rejecting the validity of heterosexual pride parades is another double standard and one should be allowed to throw a heterosexual pride parade without backlash. But as shown in the link in the above post, the idea of parading around to show pride in an arbitrary personal trait is absolutely ridiculous. There should be no pride parades for any sexual orientation.

The purpose of parades is not to show "pride" in some personal trait in a narcissistic show of superiority for people who share that one trait at the expense of those who don't. Parades should not be celebrating arbitrary personal differences, they should be about people coming together and celebrating REGARDLESS of personal traits. Canada Day or St. Patrick's Day parades, for example, are about putting all your personal traits aside and coming together regardless of colour, gender, sexual orientation etc. These types of parades are INCLUSIVE and celebratory, not exclusive and superiority oriented.
