Yesterday I sent in an application to be on Countdown. Today I got a call from the show. The lady said to me "Can you come for an audition next week? How could we say know to someone involved with a Morrissey website?". All true.

Peter

Congratulations and good luck to the audition. :)

People in outside the UK, Countdown is a long running TV quiz show on Channel 4.

Thats amazing! The geek in me is ultra-jealous, loads of luck!x

I meant to say that she'd said "How could we say no to someone involved with a Morrissey website.". My speling is terible.

Is it like our Jeopardy? 'Cause you gotta be smart to be on Jeopardy and I just don't see that. :p

I don't remember the format of Jeopardy, last time I watched it on TV (only where I'm from can watch it on TV in Japan) more than 20 years ago.

Countdown has two things to do, making a word from those letters and caliculations of given numbers.

Peter is definitely brainy enough to be on the show.
He appeared on Mastermind, 15 to 1, Weakest Link and Eggheads in last 10 years.

This is one of the cleaner ones on google...

Peter, I wonder if you got a quick audition because;
A) You are in Yorkshire - so no expensive travel or hotel arrangements
B) You used long words in your application, so they assume you might know a thing or two
C) You are 20 years younger than the average viewer - so you would be 'eye candy' for the old dears :lbf:

Good luck

Dave

Let's not forget the high-watermark of Tom O'Connors Crosswits, where my partner was Carol Vorderman. Me & Mrs F won a splendid holiday from that. Good times for a change.

Wow, I didn't notice a quiz show called Crosswits.
Hope your guardian angel will lead you to another win! :)

Hope you're going to make words like vauxhall, arsenal, tormentor, barbarism, oscillate, maladjusted etc etc. You'd get loads of points for them fancy words! :thumb:

Congrats Peter, have fun and we want it u choobed after it's broadcast. :)

Where is Countdown recorded anyway ?

you've got to be in it to win it... good luck,:thumb: let us know when you're on.

What do you win in countdown:confused:- is it just the right to be smug and say you've won:thumb:.. or do you get a dictionary:( or blankety blank cheque book and pen equivalent:squiffy::rolleyes:

In America if you win a ginormous prize on a game show or in a casino you have to pay the taxes on it before they let you take it home so frequently they do something like deduct the taxes from the value of the prize and give the winners cash.
