Yesterday I sent in an application to be on Countdown. Today I got a call from the show. The lady said to me "Can you come for an audition next week? How could we say know to someone involved with a Morrissey website?". All true.

I don't remember the format of Jeopardy, last time I watched it on TV (only where I'm from can watch it on TV in Japan) more than 20 years ago.

Countdown has two things to do, making a word from those letters and caliculations of given numbers.

Peter is definitely brainy enough to be on the show.
He appeared on Mastermind, 15 to 1, Weakest Link and Eggheads in last 10 years.

A) You are in Yorkshire - so no expensive travel or hotel arrangements
B) You used long words in your application, so they assume you might know a thing or two
C) You are 20 years younger than the average viewer - so you would be 'eye candy' for the old dears

What do you win in countdown- is it just the right to be smug and say you've won.. or do you get a dictionary or blankety blank cheque book and pen equivalent

In America if you win a ginormous prize on a game show or in a casino you have to pay the taxes on it before they let you take it home so frequently they do something like deduct the taxes from the value of the prize and give the winners cash.
